RE: [A100] Firmware 01-17-090116-15-POP-402 (00-17-090115-15-POP-402 Apps)
I want to thank sybass and the developers and betatesters for improving the a-100 nmt firmware!!!
Come on I too have problems with the hdmi, since i bought it and i'm not complaining. I've investigated the issue myself and found that is you have to start the tv on before the popcorn starts. Or just use composite , it works fine, even with 1080p 60hz. Be positive and try to help. |

And the same problem here, VIDEO_TS over SMB does not work, same as in October release, just blac screen appears and PopCorn freeze, have to turn it off by unplugging power cord.

RE: [A100] Firmware 01-17-090116-15-POP-402 (00-17-090115-15-POP-402 Apps)
This firmware fixed my inability to access Windows XP Home network shares from my PCH A-100 (no HDD). However, my network shares must be manually entered from the PCH "Network Share" option in "Setup". Then I can go to "Media Source" and select the newly created share. This worked on the failsafe firmware, but did NOT work on the most recent 2 firmwares (August '08, October '08).
Big thanks to the developers. NOTE: Attempting to use "Browse" from the "Media Source" page comes back with only "NFS Share" as an option. My network can't be browsed using that function as it doesn't show an option for SMB shares. I can live with that, though. |

If you have a "index.html" is the root of a network share, the index.htm file will be run when you open the network share... It worked in the previous firmware and it is still working with the latest firmware. Unless we are talking about different issues... |

RE: [A100] Firmware 01-17-090116-15-POP-402 (00-17-090115-15-POP-402 Apps)
My expericence with the new firmware, after updating my screen was zoomed out so mouch I could not see the working wheel in the left upper corner. Had to do a complete recovery of my unit to get it back to normal. Not good for ones mental health.
Apart from that, I can now play several MKV files which didn't work before. And the bookmark is a great addition. Now for the bad: Who came up with the completely **** idea of having the subtitles at 28 points and moved up as standard? I usually turn off my pch when not in use, it might not use much power, but why pay for it not doing anything, I have to go and change these settings everytime I start up. The normal settings where livable. And a new bug: Sometimes when I select a file to play, the power led goes red and stays that way until turned off and back on again. |

RE: [A100] Firmware 01-17-090116-15-POP-402 (00-17-090115-15-POP-402 Apps)
So are you guys saying DVD .iso playback over SMB stutters now?
And, the resume feature only works for filename.iso and not movie\video_ts? |

RE: [A100] Firmware 01-17-090116-15-POP-402 (00-17-090115-15-POP-402 Apps)
Just to recap from the other thread in the PCH-A100 forum, I wrote:
Quote:I run a PCH-100 without hard disk and access my movies through NFS (TCP) on a Windows Server 2008 machine with the native NFS server. I notice that it takes a much longer time (up to a minute or so) for the PCH to resync after a seek action with the arrow keys or percentage (number keys). Until it's in sync again the video and audio both stutter. Chris57 answered: Quote:Why are you still using NFS, have you thought of changing to SMB or using myihome as both are quicker than NFS to stream. So I changed my shares to SMB, but it's still the same. MKV seeking is much worse in this firmware. I haven't tried MyiHome yet, that's next on my list ![]() Regarding the subtitles, I agree with some others that they're too big. My ideal setting is 22-point with position 10. On my TV this shows single line subs just below the movie in the black bar and two line subs show one line just inside the movie and one line in the black bar. Hopefully in the next firmware the subtitle settings will be saved to NVRAM so you don't have to change the settings again after a powerdown. |
