a-110 - problem getting 5.1 sound from AC3/DD audio

hey all... so i am having problems with getting 5.1 sound from AC3/DD audio streams.... i still get stereo, but do not get surround sound... if i play a movie with DTS sound, i get surround sound and digital decoding like i should

i am currently using S/PDIF as my digital audio out, which runs to my receiver... the only thing i can think is that maybe AC3/DD requires you to use the HDMI audio out?

if anybody can give me some info on this that would be great, thanks

What are your settings in the audio setup page? AC3 should be set to Raw/Digital, not Analog/PCM, the fact that you're only getting stereo suggests that the PCH is doing some decoding it shouldn't. You should also try turning HDMI Audio to ON even though you're not using HDMI, it won't do any harm

sweet! thanks, that solved the problem.... pretty dumb of me to not poke around the audio setting before asking a question
