RE: HDX1080.com down again?
Agree, being down now especially when a new firmware is available is bad timing.

But it's made me think, and in no way am I trying to imply this is the case with HDX but...

If an OEM NMT maker/builder/etc goes under, what chance do the owners of that OEM NMT device have of getting updated firmware directly from Syabase ?

RE: HDX1080.com down again?
Not again please Rolleyes

We have been through this just last month when HDX were not replying to support tickets etc. There is nothing wrong at HDX apart from the Chinese New Year celebrations meaning that the website being down has not been fixed yet.

We are not debating the same point again, please.

RE: HDX1080.com down again?
Sorry Chris, but I didn't see the debate but I'll go and look for it. As I said in my post it just got me thinking as I'm about to purchase another 2 NMT units. I think my concerns are valid ones regarding any OEM I am thinking of going with.

CNY celebrations ended Tuesday. Alex in Singapore based, as am I, so unless he is on leave and the only one in the organisation that can do anything about the site, claiming CNY as a reason isn't really valid.

Edit: chris, I just had a look at the previous HDX threads and didn't see any debate re Firmware support from defunct OEMs. Can you point me to the right thread ?

RE: HDX1080.com down again?
We may have deleted it in the end as Alex reappeared and continued chat there afterwards was confusing.

When making a purchasing decision for a product that you expect to last years always factor in the viability of the company you are dealing with if possible. I do not know what the OEM partnership agreement conditions are and what is the agreement should an OEM go to the wall. Syabas are not going to discuss those or commit to providing support for a 'dead' company. Whether they do and with the similarity between models I would guess at yes. But that's just my opinion.

RE: HDX1080.com down again?
Thanks for the Beginners Guide to Purchasing chris, not sure I was asking for the basics. My question was purely on whether Syabas would provide firmware for a defunct OEM. If they have yet to release a statement around that then I guess I just have to wait and see what happens if/when the first one goes to the wall.

RE: HDX1080.com down again?
I'm seriously considering giving my HDX away and getting a A110 just to ged rid of that annoyed feeling i get when people are whining about HDX.. beh.
Can't you just close this topic?

I mean, it's an nmt forum, not a 'whine about HDX' forum.

I usually laugh at your comments but this time it's really misplaced.

Note to the other users: consider yourself DoOmed with every HDX whine added!
