Everything Raidsonic/ICYBOX IB-MP309HW-B: in here please.

Hello from me too,
i have mp309 too, it is a very good media player, except the little fan which died out in few months, however i read it's spec and i replaced it with one from an electronic shop quite easily, hmm well i am a pc technician..
I had always trouble with the shares from my PCs from the icybox point of view but when i found out that popcorn hour machines are somewhat the same in hardware, i read everything in these forums and made all share work fine all the time!
However! after installing windows live at my windows 7/64b and service pack 1 all hell broke loose!

I couldn't see ALL the files in 2 or 3 shared folders. Whatever i did i could just see 24 or 44 files! I tried all logical steps,
checking rights of each file and of shared folders
unsharing and resharing the folders (with restarts on icybox and pc)
renaming the folders then sharing (with restarts on icybox and pc)
copying files from one share to a new shared folder (with restarts on icybox and pc)
checking my network settings and registry tweaking as writen in the forums here (actually only registry editing was done, all the rest was ok)
Uninstalling windows live essentials, uninstalling sp1, uninstalling (it appeared after the sp1 removal) the windows live sign-in assistant.

And now i am clueless!! As i said i can't see, from my icybox, all the files in 2-3 shared folders. i see 24 (subfolders and files total) out of 31 at this moment on a folder and 33 out of 71 in another shared folder.
Right now, i have made just a huge shared folder in my pc (called Media) that contains the subfolders (anime, movies, music, tvseries) but again! at the tvseries and anime i see less that i should, exactly 24 and 33... lol.

i am clueless now completely.


I read some problems from other users in this thread, i just want to mention that yes DTS downmix is GODSENT! FINALLY!
I haven't tried the usb dvd drive yet but mp309 will play iso's of dvd video rom from the pc.
I have my mp309 connected through lan wire and not wireless, i wish it's lan connection was 1gbit...
Now off to see user made stuff in here to boost up my mp309

Update 1, It can't be fixed from registry or else. Only way is an NFS server in windows 7 64bit. I tried to do it with FreeNFS but i had no luck, however hanewin nfs server is quite easy and works flawlessly.

Hallo,
My Icybox doesn't see the internal HDD. Do i need to install a specific type of HDD or any SATA HDD should work? In the maintaince menu i do not have the option to format it. Any ideas?

Pick whichever mathces the internal socket on the Raidsonic, is it SATA or IDE?

In Setup > Maintenance > NMT Setup Wizard, you should then see the HDD and be able to format and partition it via NMT Apps install.

My HDD is Samsung HD161HJ, 160Gb. This type of hdd is not on that list. I tried everything, i formated it ntfs in my pc, but my icybox doesn't recognized it. In setup-maintenance i only have 2 options, no nmt setup.

Almost all new .mkv don't worlk on my Icy. I don't know why. Is this any solution, non official firmware or mod that can fix this?

The problem is audio, if it has Header stripping, icybox don't play it. You have to extract mkv and after that mux again by mkvtoolnix with Disable Header stripping option for audio file =>File=>Options=>check Disable Header removal...

I recently have bought the TL-WN821N wifi adapter and I cannot make it to work with my MP309HW. When I plug it to a USB port, I'm expecting to see a "Wireless Configuration" option (or something like that) in Network page but it doesn't show up. Could anyone inform me about how to make it work?

Anything that claims to support the PCH A100 should work. Remember that wifi is crap for transfer speeds and streaming, inparticular dongles are worse again effectively halving the available speed.

Try to get a ethernet cable somehow there. If not then dont buy a dongle go for a wireless access point so that you use ethner socket rather than USB. That will give you better speed than any dongle. Use NFS rather than anything else if you are going to try sharing.

what about an IDE Harddisk in this NMT?
I removed my 500 GB SATA Disk that i used in the past, to use it in my NAS.
But now i want to use an old 10GB IDE Harddisk in MP309 for the NMT-Apps.
Is it possible? Did anyone try this?
The Reason of my Consideration is, there is an IDE<->SATA Adapter implemented and this is removable.

I will answer myself: It is not possible, because the adapter is not only for the Harddisk it is for USB to.
