Really nice to use my iPhone to control the music in the livingroom. I want to be able to get mine working too, but I'm not sure where I am going wrong... |

RE: MPD installation howto (updated 4 May 2009)
I have installed MPD and MPDJB and it looks just great!
However - When I click on an mp3, it says it is playing but I can't hear any audio. I have my audio via HDMI. |

RE: MPD installation howto (updated 4 May 2009)
Folks
Apologies if these are "dumb user" questions Q1 - Do I understand correctly that MPD replaces the standard NMT music player and that one of its features is that it allows gapless playback of music files?. (I hate the gaps that the standard player inserts into playlists) Q2 - I am currently running MJB 7.4 to manage my 500+ flac albums. I use the slideshow feature to display photos on my TV while music is playing. Will MPD allow me to continue to use these functions in MJB 7.4 or do I have to replace the jukebox as well? Cheers Sprogger |

(I hate the gaps that the standard player inserts into playlists) Gapless playback is a feature of MPD. But MPD does not exactly replace the standard method of playback. I mean that the standard method of playback will still continue to exist on the NMT. (09-15-2009 11:57 PM)sprogger Wrote: Q2 - I am currently running MJB 7.4 to manage my 500+ flac albums. MJB in its standard form uses the NMT's standard playback method, and not MPD. Some enterprising folk have skinned MJB so that when playback is called for, control is passed to MPD instead of the NMT's standard playback method. There are some threads on these skins in the Skins forum. Alternatively, you could use a player called MPDJB which uses MPD directly for playback. With MPD, you also get the option of using an iPod or iPhone to control it. A Windows-PC or Linux based client can also be used to control MPD. |

RE: MPD installation howto (updated 4 May 2009)
I have mpc version 0.15 and it works great !!!! This is just awesome.
My problem (yes, I still have a small one ) is that the box will not play movie after using mpc. I need to do a reload before I can watch a movie again. Is there any solution to this ? I thought the version from may 4th 2009 was supposed to fix this. Thanks, Gilles. |

RE: MPD installation howto (updated 4 May 2009)
MPD looks awesome, especially with MPDJB. Can anyone recommend a place to start learning about this stuff? I want to have this working on my PCH but I have zero idea about how telnet works or how to begin this process. I've been looking for a guide for beginners but can't find a thing.
Any suggestions? I just read that once it's been re-released on CSI that I won't need to mess around with telnet to get MPD and MPDJB working. In that case I change my question to WHEN will MPD be re-released? |

RE: MPD installation howto (updated 4 May 2009)
Wondering if this installer will work on the C-200 once alanh makes the changes to the program so it is in compliance. I did not realize how much I use MPD until getting ready to install the new one.
Thanks - Chris |

RE: MPD installation howto (updated 4 May 2009)
I don't want to look too impatient, but is there already any news to report on the upgraded "mpd for NMT" version?
A few weeks ago it looked to be imminent. - aleg -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PCH A100 (Stable firmware), 250GB 2.5"" WD Caviar-PATA, Connected to Pioneer KRL32V at HDMI 1080p60/50/24, Ubuntu Server NAS, Naim DAC + XPS-2, mpd + iPod with mPod |

I was lucky to be in time to install the May 22 version, but am also eagerly awaiting the announced upgrade to current version of mpd. - aleg -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PCH A100 (Stable firmware), 250GB 2.5"" WD Caviar-PATA, Connected to Pioneer KRL32V at HDMI 1080p60/50/24, Ubuntu Server NAS, Naim DAC + XPS-2, mpd + iPod with mPod |
