MPD installation howto (updated 4 May 2009)

Alright...

Just tried to install MPD after installing Telnet and mounting my music share to /share/Music as gwillem suggested.
Note that this is all done on a USB thumb drive.

When executing the sh install.sh command, i get the following errors:

No generic daemon launcher found, installing...

sed: /mnt/syb8634/etc/ftpserver.sh: No such file or directory

I don't have a internal HDD, so i would like to install the deamon right on to the USB device.
However, i don't have an ftp server installed. Is this a prerequisite as well?
Should i install an ftp server before installing the MPD?
