[A-110] SMB password recovery
Hi PCH users. It seems that I have forgotten my SMB password and cannot connect to the PCH from my PC anymore. Strange as I always have my "standard passwords". Anyway, I cannot change the password in the PCH setup because you need the old one.
Do I now have to reset to factory settings, which probably means that I will loose all configurations (like WLAN). Or is there a special work-around? Thanks a lot! Greetings. |

RE: [A-110] SMB password recovery
Did you change from '1234' with user 'nmt'?

RE: [A-110] SMB password recovery
To be honest, I'm not sure at all. First, I thought I did not change anything, but with so many passwords on different PCs at home and at work... As the default password does not work, I must have changed it, or is there a known issue with respect to security settings?

RE: [A-110] SMB password recovery
No one else ever had this problem? Am I the only one who forgets passwords (sometimes)?

I, too, am in need of a way to reset my FTP password, and probably others as well. I'm using a EGreat EG-M34A Networked Media Tank. I changed at least the FTP password, and may be the User ID as well, and then wrote them down. I then lost the paper! I did a 'factory reset', wiped the hard drive, reinstalled all of the applications, and found no joy! My "Nework Shares" remained after the reset, so not everything was returned to the factory defaults. kpjc+ + + + + + Fr Kevin PJ Coffey EGreat EG-M34A Networked Media Tank |

Seems that I've suffered from what used to be called "operator headspace error."I tried again to do a "factory reset" and it, in fact, reset everything, including the UserID and password to the default! All is OK for me now. kpjc+ |

RE: [A-110] SMB password recovery
I had the same problem, password quit working, or so it seemed. Here is how I recovered:
1. Reboot PCH-A110 2. Check your router to see what the network address is for your PCH. 3. If it doesn't match what you see in My Network Places, create a new network icon for the PCH. Then your default password should work again. If your router is like mine, it assigns the IP dynamically on reboot. A nasty characteristic IMO. |
