Problem with external HDD WD Elements
I have a problem with an external HDD WD Elements 160 Gb. When I try to reproduce some files (mainly divx), the file stops, some time goes to the main page and other times the popcorn remain blocked, with the blue LED on, and I need to disconect from the power to restart. If I copy the file into the internal HDD, there are not problems.
The hard disk is fomatted in ext3 with a linux CD. If some one have some ideas, I apreciate. Regards |

RE: Problem with external HDD WD Elements
Does the disk have its own power supply or does it draw power from the player?
Have you tried to play back from other USB devices? Media tank:A-100 & C-200 TV:Panasonic TH-50PY800MT (HDMI) Audio:Logitech Z-5500 (Coaxial) |

Quote:No, the disk do not have its own power supply. But I think this must not afect. It is best not to discard any possibilities before trying to investigate them. From your description, the problem is likely to be related to something with your external hard disk, since your 8GB USB stick works okay. Is the hard disk connected via a USB cable with only one connector, or via a Y-shaped cable (with two connectors connecting to the ports of the PCH)? If the hard disk is connected via a USB cable with a single connector, and does not have its own power supply, it is not unlikely the problem is that the USB hard disk does not receive enough power, which causes the behaviour you describe. Even if that is not the case, it is possible that the chipset in the external box is faulty. This has actually happened to me - I had to throw away the external box and buy another one. Thanks for your help. The hard disk is connected with a single connector. I will try with a Y-shaped cable. About the chipset, I will check, but the disk do not fail in the computer. |

The external HD have disappeared, and in some second the popcorn found again. The HD works properly in the PC. I have tried with external 3.5 HD, that works properly. I think that it is a problem with my HD, but I need to know if it is problem for the all the 2.5 HD, or only for mine. Regards |
