Cheers

I also agree. It should be left to the user. Isn't that the point of the FULLSCREEN option. We know it distorts, but i prefer the larger image rather than what turns out to be 2 feet of black bars on my 52 inch TV.

As for being able to zoom the image. Yes, But again, whats the point of the FULLSCREEN feature. This is SAVED. Ie, no matter what video your viewing, it will fill the screen. I really don't want to have to zoom the screen every time i watch a different video. Also, my kids and wife is not savy enough. They just want to play the movie, and not be tweaking a bunch of settings. Kids hate black bars. I remember myself when i was younger, i preferred full screen over wide screen.

Please return this user friendly option back to the user.

You cannot have a 4:3 image on a 16:9 screen without either corrupting the aspect ratio or keeping the AR and cropping some of the image.

I am aware that their is corruption of the aspect ratio. But that's what full screen has always done. OBVIOUSLY it has to distort the image to fit full screen if the aspect ratio does not match the TV's capabilities. Hence, the different options, crop, full screen etc. It was left up to the user to what they preferred. I don't understand the problem. Isn't this what FULLSCREEN has always done. I've noticed it distorts even the wide screen videos if they aren't to the exact same ratio. That is the whole point of the full screen option, as it is the only option that will fill the screen and will distort the image to do so. All the other options maintain the ratio.

Yep same as cropping the image, zooming in in other words.

No, you are incorrect. #1, Cropping or zooming looses some of the image. Some of the image goes off screen to fill the other portions. So, you loose some of the video. Ie, missing video. #2, You have to reset this or fiddle with the cropping/zooming with every different video.

So, no, it is not the same as the fullscreen feature.

Unfortunately the new firmware didn’t solve my problem. Still video playback stops sometime for 20 seconds and then resume in double speed again. This is with all types of movie files. Also it doesn’t matter if this is over the network or from local hdd.

In this same line FTP connection is dropped after about 5/10 minutes. If I simultaneously keep a ping running no pings are dropped. Reconnect is not possible then, only after restart the FTP server.

I’ve uploaded the new firmware including tools but still have this problem. I have the PCH now for a month but still I haven’t seen one movie yet.

Anyone familiar with is issue or should I just open a window and throw it out.

hmm sounds strange, can you make an extra thread and then give us more infos, like an mediainfo report on the files you try to play, TV settings, networksettings,......

We weren't talking about fullscreen we were talking about the magic Phillips TV. My post and your were both 3.01.

I cant install/start the NMT apps after installation.

I updated the firmware without problems and then I got the screen to reinstall the apps. It says that the request could not be processed. I restarted but I cant seem to solve it.
Now I cant get access my PCH since all services are stopped.

Any suggestion?

Noone is forcing you to use the auto framerate synch function just becaue you upgrade to this firmware - you can leave it off and do whatever you do today selecting output manually
The only questions is what this new function do - not what is being outputted when you select 1080p23.976 manually - this will naturally still output 23.976
On top of that just because the new autoframerate feature possibly doesnt synch properly on Denners screen doesnt mean it wont synch properly on your screen.
Many screens treat "24p" in a way that it makes no difference if output/input are 24hz or 23.976hz
An excellent example of the sort of careful consideration to which I was alluding.

RE: [A110] Firmware 01-17-090125-15-POP-403 (NMT 00-17-090115-15-POP-403) released
Alright, I'm having some issues here and I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have upgraded to the newest firmware, no problem, but I can't seem to figure out how to upgrade my apps. I downloaded and extracted the zip file to the root of a memory stick and ran the usbupdate.html file. After the firmware update it reboots and starts up the NMT Setup Wizard. I then choose Typical setup -> Next and then am presented with the option to choose Online or USB for the setup source. If I choose USB it says "USB Device not found" and if I choose Online it takes me to the disclaimer page and when I agree to the terms it crunches for a few minutes, acts like it's doing something, and the gives me an error page.

It appears that I'm the only one having this issue, as the forums aren't covered with people with the same problem. Anybody have any ideas? I redownloaded the zip file from another source posted in this thread and I've tried it with 3 usb sticks, so I'm pretty sure that isn't the problem. In the OP there is reference to a 01-17-090125-15-POP-403 file for the firmware and a 00-17-090115-15-POP-403 file for the apps. I see the 125-15 bin file in the zip, but I don't see the 115-15 bin file anywhere. Is that an alternate download that I'm missing?

Please help, I'm banging my head against the wall over here.

EDIT - Looks like in the time I took to write this message two other people posted the same problem. At least I'm not the only one.

Well, since someone deleted my post including the (legal) torrent without any comment, now without any more information...
I've noticed playback problems (jumps, hangs) with very high bitrates (according to OSD it's over 30MBit/s). The file is on the internal hard disk (WD Caviar Blue 640GB).
Can be easily reproduced with the CC (creative commons) licensed short movie Big Buck Bunny. I'm using the 1080p, MP4 version. Skip to the credits (a few seconds after the 90% mark).

So fullscreen doesn't work anymore in the new firmware ?
Well, if it's the only problem, then it's perfect Wink
Sorry but fullscreen is the worst video mode ever, you go from super fat caracters in 4:3 files to super tall caracters in 2.35 movies, total massacre Big Grin
