Can you check up on that with the firmware development team, and get beck to me with an answer ?
If it does output 24p instead of 23,976Hz, this should be corrected
I will take the unit by a freind that has a LUMAGEN scaler, and see what it reports as the output refreshrate, the cool thing is that the LUMAGEN scaler can tell the exact framerate that is being input to it, so if it reports 23,976Hz when PCH is set to auto, then everything is fine and the framerate issue is a issue somewhere in my set up......
I look forward to the outcome of your LUMAGEN test. If it transpires that 23.976fps material is being (incorrectly) output at 24fps I will have to carefully consider whether to take this f/w update.

Why ? Undecided

Noone is forcing you to use the auto framerate synch function just becaue you upgrade to this firmware - you can leave it off and do whatever you do today selecting output manually

The only questions is what this new function do - not what is being outputted when you select 1080p23.976 manually - this will naturally still output 23.976

On top of that just because the new autoframerate feature possibly doesnt synch properly on Denners screen doesnt mean it wont synch properly on your screen.
Many screens treat "24p" in a way that it makes no difference if output/input are 24hz or 23.976hz

Old 4:3 movies and TV series will now not fill the screen. Was this bug known before releasing the firmware? I have tried every possible picture setting but still end up with big black bars either side of the picture. My Philips LCD does a really good job of filling the screen with a 4:3 picture. Not with the new Popcorn firmware though.

PERSONALLY I would HATE to see my 4:3 content stretched out to fill my 16:9 screen...
If they every do implement a stretch feature i hope it is optional

That's what "Full screen" used to do or should have done before the advent of the auto refresh rate option, it certainly worked for MKV's but didn't work in DVD's. I must admit that the name "Resize to screen" would make more sense as a name for this option rather than "Full Screen".

sounds interesting, let us know what came out in your tests. but be sure you don't use false samples to test....

maybe you can upload a sample too, because here autoframerate does actually work good with 1080p23 as mentioned before...

I'm probably starting to sound like a stuck record but that feature was implemented in the previous firmware.

awesome thanks guys. This is my first update since buying the popcorn hour about a month and a half ago. Its really encouraging to see things that we have requested being added to new firmwares, eg m3u support.

First, thanks for this update. Downloaded it yesterday from the German site on a USB-stick and the update was smooth.

Question about Time seek on a movie in a VIDEO_TS folder:
I can enter hh:mm:ss but ENTER key does not seem to work. What key do i have to press to actually go to that time?

edit: after a day problem solved (switching off???)

eagle eye, cant you just stretch it with the tvs settings for 4:3 content?

From what i read from other users who've upgraded the mythtv upnp that use to work a few firmware releases ago, still hasn't been fixed. I would love to see this working. and I bet more and more myth users would buy these boxes if it worked too.. I searched for over a year, for something that would play true hd content, and be able to stream from my mythbackend.

BTW: if anyone is going to upgrade right now, dont do it from the online update.. it is taking forever.. ive been downloading image for over half an hour now... Use the usb method.

I've tested a bit with my 4:3 videos (source PAL or lower, output at 720p) and found an interesting effect:
When switching the Zoom from "Crop" to "Full Screen" (Zoom, D-Pad right) nothing happens. The image stays cropped and is not scaled. If I stop playback and resume, the image is shown like in "Fit To Screen" mode

When switching from actual size to full screen (Zoom, D-Pad left) the image is displayed like "fit to screen" (i.e. not cropped).

But truth be told: I don't really care because I'm either watching with "Crop" or "Fit To Screen". I like my aspect ratio undistorted Big Grin

No, my Philips LCD will not stretch when using the DVI port.

In the previous firmware I would get a stretched 4:3 picture by setting the Popcorn aspect to 16:10 rather than 16:9. I can't be the only one who did that surely?

I think 'stretched' is the wrong word with my TV. It fills the screen from a 4:3 source without any distortion or flattening of faces or bodies.
