There is definitely a issue with the PCH and Flac. I have ripped ALOT of CD's into Flac, which all work flawlessly on Foobar, a Transporter, a Squeezebox but FAIL on the PCH!

I have just used the FLAC frontend to test an Album, they come back OK

What gives??

Thanks
Kris

Can you describe the failure? Do you see the blue screen with the selected flac song displayed on the info screen? How is the PCH connected to your AVR, SPDIF / HDMI or stereo jacks?

I have over 3000 flac's ripped from CD's that work just fine, my setup is NAS streaming to PCH, and PCH connected to AVR via SPDIF (PCM output), works fine, suggest it may be your setup rather than the PCH...

Well, I have the coaxial straight into my AVR. Basically the PH streams FLAC from a NAS and it says 'file unplayable'

It trys to open it

Happens on most flac. These same flac files work fine with every other FLAC device out there - so its the PH at fault I would assume

I've gone and reencoded everything and most things are working - it seems the PH's FLAC code is a bit dodgy...

dastrix,

it will be great if you can provide the mediainfo for the flac's files that you are unable to play... and provide the same mediainfo for the file that you have reencode. in this way, we can tell whats wrong with it.

Hi Alex, too late - I've reencoded my files. If I find something that fails to play, ill post those details for you.

Cheers
Kris

Hi, I also had problems playing flac files (using NFS). The files were encoded using EAC and worked fine on the PixelMagic MB200. However, they did not show any info in mediainfo.

I tried converting one of the files back to wav and then re-encoding it and it worked. Looking more closely at the difference I saw that the ones that didn't work had ID3v2 headers at the start of the flac files. I tried removing this header and it works fine.

I've now got my collection working by using 'tag --removeid3v2 *.flac' on all my flac files.
