Automatic resolution error

Hello,

I just got my box a couple days ago and have been pretty happy already with what I have seen. I am having one problem that is really bugging me though.

Its the refresh rate problem with certain video that causes jittering.

I have my PH set to 1080P60hz and obviously this causes some problems with video files that dont comply with it and need the 24.7hz or whatever.

Is the automatic resolution supposed to automatically change according to the video file? If i active it My tv shows unsupported video output. And if it is not supposed to do this then is there an alternative? Thanks for the help.

First of all, check carefully that you have chosen the right 1080P60hz - there is a 1080p60Hz option for both component and HDMI. In the menu you have Component and HDMI and sub-headers, make sure you pick a resolution under the connection type you are actually using.

Second, the AUTO video mode is not intended as a permanent solution because it causes loss of synchronization (- no signal, black or blue screen) quite often.

If your TV does not support 24fps/23.976fps then there is no way for you to watch this type of material without getting judder.

If your TV does support it, there is an Auto Framerate Sync in the new firmware, that enables the NMT player to change frame rates automatically based on an analysis of the frame rate of the source file.

the resolution i have selected is correct - 1080p60h hdmi

im pretty sure that my tv supports 24 fps because if i select 1080p 24hz it plays these files flawlessly.

I think the problem may be that the PH is recognizing these problem files as PAL not NTSC. if in framrate sync I select NTSC/PAL/24p and play these files i receive the unsupported output error since it is switching to pal which my screen does not support. however if I switch to just NTSC/24p the files play with jittering.

any ideas on what I may do?

Does your TV support PAL, if it doesnt then you will have to select NTSC/24p otherwise you will get unsupported video signal errors.

You files with 23.976 fps will play at 23.976fps and your 24fps files at 24fps if you have any, they are generally only EU releases.

it does not support pal. I have NTSC/24p enabled however it does not work.

The only way I have found to play them correctly is to enable 1080p23.976hz

if that is the resolution selected and only if auto framerate set to OFF do they play.


if autoframerate is set to NTSC/24p the resolution is supposed to be set to 1080p60hz correct?

it seems that just leaving the resolution to 1080p23.976hz and the auto framerate to off works with all my files including 720p mkv and these lower quality files i was having issues with. I dont seem to notice a quality drop in the mkv files should i?

There will be no drop in quality, but there should be judder on source material that is not 23.976hz. If you cannot see this judder then count yourself lucky. Once you start seeing it you cannot 'un-see' it again.
