.mkv files not streaming properly from pc anymore

I've owned the A-110 for about a week now...initially, everything (avi, mkv, mp3, jpg) was streaming/playing great from my networked pc. (My network is all wired.)

Today, I turned it on and now it won't play my mkv files at all...in fact, the icon for each mkv file is no longer a "movie reel", it's an "exclamation point". However, every other type of file (avi, mp3, jpg) still streams perfectly fine.

I have not yet installed a local hard drive, but when I played an mkv file locally from my usb stick, the file was properly recognized, and it played fine. The same file was not streamable from the pc though.

My assumption is that there is some issue in regards to the network, but I've tried to reset the router, the pc, and the a-110...nothing worked. The latest firmware was re-installed with the usb thumbstick, and still no progress.

Any ideas?

UPDATE***Just searched through another similar thread...it appears installing myihome solved the problem.***
(still odd that the mkv files are no longer recognizable when using the pc directly as a source)

myihome is a http server app.

When you are using shares you are using SMB or NFS unless you are sharing via Windows' actual Media Player.
I mention that as it does not allow MKV files to be shown or played unless the codec and filters are added/amended.

Some servers come with sharing already setup. Quite often it is again a http serving app and unless that app allows MKV then it is not playable.

Great info. this solved my streaming mkv files by deleting the network share i had setup. is there a good source to read that explains how to allow those type of codecs to be played while the network share exists?
