Question about selecting a router (for bridge) purposed for the A-110
Well, I bit the bullet and purchased a PCH A-110 and a 1TB WD Green HD (arriving in a few days). I passed on the USB wifi dongle. I currently have a Dlink DIR 655 router set up in my garage. I was thinking of purchasing a Dlink Dir 615 to use as in bridge mode to grant the PCH wireless access. My knowledge of routers is extremely limited. If anyone knows of issues, conflicts, etc of my proposed choice in the DIR 615 as a bridge, please let me know.
Thank you in advance |

RE: Question about selecting a router (for bridge) purposed for the A-110
Very interested in your results when youve got it all setup.
Do a filezilla FTP speed test via the USB dongle and then one with the bridge when its setup if you dont mind, to see the speed. Found some good information on setting up here:- http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Modes.html http://www.ezlan.net/bridging http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

Thanks Chris...I'll post results for the bridge (but I don't have the USB dongle, I passed on purchasing it after reading quite a bit of the negative user reviews here). Any idea if certain routers make for better usage as a bridge? I like the speed of the Dir 615, (N rated)...although it only has the 2 antenna instead of 3 like me Dir 655). |

RE: Question about selecting a router (for bridge) purposed for the A-110
I'm sure certain routers will make better bridges than others. Go for one that has a third party firmware such as WRT-DD or Tomato available so that if you run into problems with the onboard firmware during setup you can switch it out.
The 615 does seem supported by DD-WRT firmware. Ask on the third party firmware forums what would be the best wireless-N router/access point for your 655 router.
