Its not going to be SATA from what ive read. I also have a Sumvision media drive which is the same box and only takes IDE HD so I'm thinking its time to dust off those old drives.

28th member! Not bad, eh?

As for SATA, from what I've heard, and I forget where I heard it.... maybe MPC? AVS? Google? Anyway, from what I've heard, the new Sigma chip is still IDE only, so a bridge is used for SATA support.

WOHOO 179 us what a great price..lets hope this baby rocks, its about time the price point was lower as dvico and all the rest have been to expensive for most punters in there latest incarnations..but this a mainstream price and hopefully sylabas will get the software right at least in most areas to start with..full 1080p mvv/h264 to start will get the ball rolling 8)

Greetings from Denmark 8)

I am so looking forward to this device, does anyone know if it will be possible to import this to Europe ?

And is there any heads up on when it will be available to order from the Popcorn Hour website ?

Best Regards
Denner

Hi-Jack Wrote:...We'll get one as soon as the EU version is available.
Should be latest mid November (hopefully).

What is/will be the difference between the US and EU version ?.

Someone (maybe Hi-Jack on MPC) wrote that EU version will support .iso

And I suggest, what about SATA compatibility?

Cheers

Does anyone know what size IDE drive this unit will take yet?

From what I have seen so far the power supply can handle 100-240volt/50-60hz. That would mean that you could use it in EU and US with no problem. Only thing is the actual power cord it self. Many company's include power cord for both US an EU in their product. Perhaps they do as well.

The Sumvision one I have can take a 500Gb HD.

Mind you there have been a few users myself included who have had problems with Maxtor drives. May be down to the box and overheating so until the NMT is out and the unit can be assessed it may be specific to the Sumvision.

56th! Big Grin
Can't wait to see this beauty in action! Wink
I really hope that: a) it will keep its promises and b) price in EUR won't be too high (I know it will never be 125€ - that's 179$ at current exchange -, but at least don't make it more than 180€...)

Carlo, the PopCorn will have IDE. Though SATA disks are easier to find,
there is no difference in performance as both SATA and IDE exceed the
abilities of the Sigma chip. Only reason prefer SATA is thus the easier to
find disks but IDE is still pretty easy to find...

The EU firmware having samab suppot (nas servers) and ISO support is
currently being developed and tested. It will be featured...

Thx for your favorite site :-)
