Why support subs in DVD structure, but not have any support at all for graphic subs outside of an ISO? They're timed RLE-encoded bitmap overlays - that's stuff you hand to the interns. How do you get something like YouTube working but subs are in alpha/beta for half a year? The playback of DVD ISO's and VIDEO_TS folders is handled by a different kind of player than "mono" that handles AVI, MKV, TS, etc... That may explain why SUB/IDX is implemented in one but not another. Does anyone know, who controls the development of Mono? Is it the same company/development team as the one that develops DVD playback software? |

RE: [SUBTITLES] IDX SUB
chris57: This IDX/SUB support, assuming it's working by the next firmware release: will it include IDX/SUB inside of an MKV container? (it would be a bit of a hassle to have to batch-extract IDX subs for the vids I have w/o embedded SRT).
TBQH, this is the last feature I honestly care about. Given that the latest firmware update magically fixed the "macroblocking" issues I had with one of my shows, an inclusion of vobsub support would essentially enable all of my anime collection, allowing me to finally put away my DVD's, keeping them out of harm's reach. |
