Custom "Home" index - UPDATED

The index has now been tweeked to reflect any theme loaded onto your PCH. Simply load your favourite theme and reboot your PCH and this index will automatically take on the look and feel of the HOME menu of the theme with the added functionality of customizable links.

Hi all,

Have you ever wanted a customizable index.htm menu that looks exactly like the standard 4 icon HOME screen? No? Well neither have I really - but that didn't stop me making one anyway!

Please note this is for HD only as I only have a HD screen for testing. All the links can be changed to suit your spacific needs. The basic setup has the Video button point to a movie jukebox at HARD_DISK\Video\index.htm and the remaining 3 buttons point to the root folder with filters applied. Feel free to make all the changes you want.

Also I wanted to say a massive thanks to Blaise for the work he did on his "Default" index as it helped me a great deal with the correct linking on the left hand side menu.

Impressive coding skills sure....but IMO the main screen is sucky right out the box so not sure why you'd go for this when you could make it look a whole lot better....

@ Simon - Glad you liked it.

@ Suge - You're absolutely right mate! To tell you the truth, I'm pretty sure I wont even use it myself. It was essentially made for those who like their PCH experience to be "original" with the added ability to direct exactly where their menu takes them. It was also a bit of fun to put together...

@ Pamas - As the links can be adjusted in anyway the user wishes, I set the Music, Photo & Browser buttons to behave the same way as the Home menu does on a standard "unmodified" PCH. The standard Home (4 icon) menu will access the root of a share with a filter applied. I did set the Video link to access a custom movie jukebox (ie: YAMJ or MovieFlow) as I think this is probably the main focus of most users.

Can anyone tell me how to retrieve the names of the pictures from the PCH?

I do not have a network connection, just a USB connection.

I would like a list of all the icons.

I'm not exactly sure where the images are stored when viewed via USB. However if you just wanted a list of the image names, I suggest you download the original theme from here: http://files.syabas.com/networkedmediatank/_theme_.zip. This download contains all the images for both HD & SD embedded in the original firmware.

With start sceen I mean the selection screen with the four standard icons.

Are you using a theme or index.htm or something like this? What page is displayed when you press the HOME button?

I use the index.htm from this thread. and placed it in the root of my networkshare. everything works fine exept that nothing happen when I press the home button. Do I need to add something to the index.htm?

From my experience I have noticed that when using a index.htm, pressing the HOME button seems to take you back to the index.htm (not the standard 4 icon HOME screen). Mind you, I wrote the Custom "Home" index to be exactly the same as the standard HOME screen with the added bonus of fully customizable links. If you would rather return to your original HOME - rename or delete the index.htm.
