[AUDIO] mkv container with DTS - no sound issue
Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked before or if there is an obvious answer. I just recently purchased an A-100. My setup is hdmi to my Samsung 1080p TV, and stereo output from the TV to a Yamaha amp. It is an old amp - no surround or anything. I don't have issues with other mkv's with avi's with different audio. I also tried doing direct stereo out from the PH to the amp with still no luck. I also notice on the settings for the DTS audio options that you can't change the output from Digital (RAW) so does the PH not natively recode the DTS signal? Anyone have any ideas? (aside from forking out on a new amp....) [UPDATE]: I also notice that this post has a similar issue but since upgrading to the 04.02 fw (which is the same fw my box has). Wondering if it is a related issue. http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=21545 FleeMan |

you have 2 options.
1. buy a digital receiver with builtin DTS deconding. 2. use the audio converter program to convert DTS audio tracks to AC3 audio tracks and then upload the movie (with the new AC3 audio track) to the NMT. cant remember the url to the audio converter program, but its in these forums somewhere. edit: check out this thread: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...onvert+dts nappy (05-07-2009 01:04 PM)flee_man Wrote: Hi, |

Thanks Nappy. I browsed through the forums more and I gathered it doesn't natively decode, so for the moment, the audio converter seems the way to go.

RE: [AUDIO] mkv container with DTS - no sound issue
If you need DTS decoding to stereo then you need to pay for the DTS license which is the main reason why the A110 costs more than the A100.
The A100 never will support decoding of DTS as the price does not include the licensing and to obtain that now would involve ALL A100 owners having to pay for DTS licenses whether they need them or not. I would get an amp that decodes DTS as then you will get multichannel/5.1 output to your speakers. Decoding onboard is only stereo so the best sound will be via amp in any case. Whilst you save up use the AudioConvertor app. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |
