[Subtitles] .SUB -> .SRT
Anyone who knows a good tool to simply convert a set of .SUB subtitles to .SRT since that's what the PCH likes from what I've understand?

If they are text based sub files by themselves (try opening it in a text editor), I think those work on the PCH with no problem. If they are sub/idx files (which should have both a .sub and a .idx file), you will need to either convert using Subrip or download an SRT file from Opensubtitles.org

Conversion is a bit of a pain from sub/idx files as you have to spend a few minutes (sometimes 15 or more) letting the program know what letter/word is what.

RE: [Subtitles] .SUB -> .SRT
subscene is also a very good place for subs
they have srt subs for most scene releases

no matter wher you get your subs its always worth giving them a quick blast through subtitleworkshop the auto correct fuction is good and you can easily adjust timing errors

There is nothing to see here, move along.

I use Subtitle Workshop http://www.urusoft.net/download.php?lang=1&id=sw

You can open .sub file and save as it to "SubRip" format (.srt). You can also set subtitle delays, change subtitle fps and join example 2 CD version subtitles to 1 CD version with this program.

RE: [Subtitles] .SUB -> .SRT
Subtitle Workshop can do batch conversion from/to any supported format.

RE: [Subtitles] .SUB -> .SRT
I actually have the same problem at the moment, but not really much experience in this matter.

Today I tried out mkvtoolnix. Actually, I got those subtitles into mkv, VLC played it but my Popcorn Hour told me, that this subtitle format ist not supported.

I tried BDSup2Sub but that wasn't what I was looking for.
The results using SubRip didn't convince me. Or maybe I need a manual or something like that.

Is there any other possibility to put/bake/convert/whatever those .idx/.sub into the mkv-container so that they will show on Popcorn Hour?
Or do I just have the possibilities to wait for the new firmware or use vlc-player using my computer?

Thanks

RE: [Subtitles] .SUB -> .SRT
The PCH only support textbased subtitles like .srt, .sup and .ass
It does not support bitmapbased subtitles which are small pictures, such as vobsub idx/sub
Doenst matter if its external or internal - its still unsupported.

Therefore there are 2 options

1. Doing an ocr to convert bitmapbased idx/sub to textbased .srt - this require running an ocr software like subrip - there are only this and one or two others which works. This takes time and requires some manual work.

2. leach on the fact that others have allready done no 1 choise and spend the 10 sec. it takes to download a finished .srt file from the internet and place it next to the video file. This is what I do all the time.

RE: [Subtitles] .SUB -> .SRT
i use vobsub and then use the SubResync feature to do an OCR, then run it through subtitle workshop to check for errors. thats if the interweb lets me down.
