Star BoxMe HQ v2.0 - Boxed Posters & Thumbs - Updated 24/06/2009
*****
24/06/2009 - Updated to version 2.0 - added perspective and reflection options for both thumbnails and posters.

This latest update has taken many hours of work - please let me know if you have any problems and I will try and help you as best I can.

Download here..

For those that don't know what this is, put simply it's a script that uses the imagemagick software to change your thumbnails and posters generated by YAMJ into BluRay, DVD etc. boxes. Lots of options available to customise your setup, see below for some examples..

Included are options for four different box styles (chooseable from a menu), stacking boxes for sets, and source boxes for almost all video sources at request of some users. This includes the older style covers both left and right sided opening. Finally the latest version adds the perspective and reflection options which were very complicated to figure out. These latest two options can slow down the processing time so be patient when running the program.

Please see the readme for instructions..

If you're worried this is complicated to install, don't be.
All you need to do is download and install imagemagick, extract the boxme zip file into the same place as your YAMJ index.htm, run the dothemagic.bat and follow the on screen options. If you want you can change some options in the bat files, but it's very simple to use. The readme goes into more detail so don't be put off.

Example images..

Download from Omertron's site, below..

If you are having trouble running this please read the readme thoroughly. It's quite extensive. I'll keep checking on here try to help if I can with any questions.

Oh no, I just wrote it in the latest word 2007. Anyone else having problems?

(Added a Word 1997 - 2003 compatible version to Omertron's site - give that a try and let me know if it works)

That's strange. I have the Office compatibility pack, so it should have been converted correctly. The 97-03 document displays just fine.

right opening is a good thing and a total oversight from past boxmes but sadly i'm not liking these covers. the bluray ones are too bright and none have the transparency like other versions of boxme etc.

I did take your higher res .png's from the last version and use them in the boxme addon gui so i get the higher res pngs and all the options and featues of the boxme addon gui. except you only had a black box, no clear box image and certain others that you didn't have a version of.

RE: New BoxMe HQ - Boxed Posters & Thumbs
Nice work

But having some problems with this one, old releases worked like a charm.

I copied the jukebox folder and the index file from the NMT to a local folder on the computer along with the BoxmeHQ folder. I run dothemagic file and choose options 4 and 1. But then I'm getting the following errors:

Code:

De1Phi4n - I wish I could please everyone but sadly it's never possible. The only reason I made these new covers was for myself and thought I might as well share them with everyone else. I like them and think they look great, the new BluRay cover is exactly what a Bluray box looks like as it's based on a photograph of one, it's the right colour even though it is a little bright like you say.

If you don't like the new covers, then the old ones are still there, just in options 1 and 2. Option 1 is basically the same as warrick's boxme addon just without quite as much rescaling of images so the end result is a better quality image.

The old see through plain box was pointless in my opinion so I got rid of it, it didn't match any other boxes and was only used for unknown sources so would barely get used anyway. Not sure what other boxes are missing?

Yes, Raven. I'm really sorry there is an error in my code. The code is looking for unknown.png and unknownsmall.png as the boxes to use when a source cannot be found. For some reason the images have been left with the wrong names in the two new box style folders.

In the BD-Shadow and BD-Style folders are two images called unknowncase.png and unknowncasesmall.png, rename these to unknown.png and unknownsmall.png and it should all work perfectly.

Again Raven I apologise, I will upload a corrected version to Omertron's site in a minute.

Other boxsets I have are showing correctly except this one

RE: New BoxMe HQ - Boxed Posters & Thumbs
Check your Jukebox folder, make sure there is a set_Narnia Collection_1.jpg or whatever it should be called. If for some reason there isn't a picture then it can't generate a cover. If there isn't one there, then you need to put one in the same folder as the first Narnia movie, or manually copy the image to your Jukebox folder.

Check that then get back to me if it's something else.

RE: New BoxMe HQ - Boxed Posters & Thumbs
so I was excited for the right facing transparent boxes by McMilly included in this release, but when I used them with BoxCovers 1.29 by ithiel it doesn't come out right.

for one thing witht he perspective tilting away and to the right its putting the binding side in the foreground but worse then that is that the image is set to stay off the left margin which by default is the opening side in the BoxCovers program. I know there are some countries where they open the other way from left to right (like Israel) but I more think this was just a mistake and oversight.

but even replacing with McMilly's right facing boxes it doesnt' work in BoxCovers 1.29 by ithiel because on the right side wehre the opening now is, has the cover on it but the left side binding end doesn't. again the image is margined to the right for boxes that open backwards on the left.

sucks.

it just looks better to have them opening the wrong way cus at least the image fits right, ugh.

BoxCovers 1.29 and previous versions seems much faster even to build all then this new boxme hq and the previous version. even option 2 to to only build new takes forever.

why is BoxCovers prog so much faster to build then this even when using the hq images in BoxCovers?

RE: New BoxMe HQ - Boxed Posters & Thumbs
ok so i decided to just use this new version with the right facing McMilly boxes that I prefer since they didn't work in boxme 1.29 (though 1.30 is now out)

reflections never worked in Boxme by ithiel anyway so the only loss here is perspective which supposedly is omitted in this one to keep quality.

looks decent (though I do miss reflections and perspective) but my main problem is the stuff with unknown source is all the plain black box. in BoxMe by ithiel, it at least colors the box so you can tell if its hd or not if you dont want to use ugly hd logos (whether just the HD logo or actual 720p or 1080 logos) I feel those junk it up but the problem is i now have sd and HD stuff a like in a black box cus its unknown source.
HD Logo - Corner if Source Unknown. Only use the corner logo
if the source is unknown (and not forced)

heh. just what I was looking for. maybe ithiel heard me. just addedin in BoxMe version 1.30

now only if he can add the right facing option then I should be good....for now. always trying to improve things, you know how it is or you wouldn't haven't made your own version of this.

luckily in BoxMe, i can just build a test example. maybe you want to think about that option so we dont hae to run the whole prog just to see how it looks.

i guess i could try inputting the McMilly right facing images into BoxMe 1.30 but they didn't look right with 1.29

maybe the new real looking bluray covers you made would work with BoxMe? i still prefer the transparent mcmilly ones though. i'll try both. wasting way too much time on this as usual.
oh saweet! v 1.30 added your true to life blue ray covers and has mcmillys right facing transparent covers already. just have to see if the image is as high res as yours but if not should be no problem to replace.

has perspective! reflection still doesnt seem to really work but they added the feature

1.30 Feature: - HD Logo - Corner if Source Unknown. Only use the corner logo
if the source is unknown (and not forced)

so that solves my problem of unknown source all having the same plain black box and me not being able to see if its sd or hd cus i dont like the hd logo junking up the boxes for all of them but for unknowns it will help.

w00t! i love progress.
hm, ithiel did upgrade to the 400x590 box covers, and he did away with the clear box, lol. why did I get the feeling you guys are either the same person or working together and one keeps borrowing from the other. good collaborating though, that is the way to do it!
