[AUDIO] No audio from movie. Need advise please.
Hello. I am trying to make an archive copy of a movie I own. I have extracted the movie multiple times and every time the movie plays on my A-110 the video looks great but I cannot hear any audio. I have ripped the movie in handbrake on both the mac and pc and the results are the same, no audio. I have also used the slysoft family of programs on the pc with same results. My handbrake settings are set to output format of MKV file. The audio section has English (ac3) (5.1 ch) using audio codec of AAC (faac) with a dolby pro logic II in the mixdown area. I have searched this forum and found a post from Macrho on 12-14-2008 with the same issue. He received a response from Spawn telling him to use mkv as the container for the movie. I have the same issue and followed the same advise. Anyone else care to take a stab on what may be preventing me from hearing any audio? I have my A-110 hooked up to my plasma via component but it plugged into my Sony receiver via optical for the audio. I have a few blue ray archives in the mkv format that play perfectly on my A-110.
Thank for any info. Doug in CT |

Hi Specter, My NMT had digital for that setting had Digital (raw) and once I changed it to AAC analog I was able to hear audio from the movie I am testing. Thank you for that info. However it was not in dolby 5.1 surround. When I hit the info key on the remote for the move I get MKV mpeg4 and AAC (48.0khz) for the audio. Am I missing something when I rip and encode a movie (standard DVD and not blue ray) for proper 5.1 audio playback on the A-110? I say not blue ray since my blueray archived copies on my nas play back fine on the a-110 with full 5.1 audio. Thanks. Doug |

RE: No audio from movie. Need advise please.
Eh - if you encode to AAC audio - then naturally you do not get dolby 5.1 surround, but only AAC stereo.
![]() In handbrake simply select AC3 as audio type - not AAC Then you get the original English AC3/DD audio in full 5.1 surround. Living room: C200/A200/A100 HDMI to Pioneer KURO KRP-500A plasma / Denon AVR 3808 / KEF 5005.2 / B&W DM685 Kids room: C200/A110 HDMI to Panasonic 42PZ85, Optical to Logitech Z5500. Boy I feel like a total newb for missing that (and I'm really not!). I have been playing with audio/video since the Amiga days. We just started potty training my son this weekend so I blame him ;> |
