Nice pictures carima, I am jealous. Mine is being delivered by TNT and has only just made it to London:
10 Nov 2007 11:29 London Heathrow Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point Guess it's not going to make it to Manchester today... Really hoping it'll be Monday! |

Not at all. My shipment was in Tokyo 09:00 on Friday, that's Friday morning. DHL, being a gaijin company, probably figured that it's Friday, no reason to do work. Then it is weekend, no work there. and on Monday it'll probably be a slow start, so maybe around 15:00 they'll start on the 50km journey from the airport.
Damn, us foreigners are so lazy! HK to Tokyo, 24 hours. 50KM from Airport: 48 hours and counting. But I knew that would happen when they used DHL

Same story here. My unit arrived in town at 13:37 on Friday 9 Nov - exactly 2 days ago now. Since then its only gone from one DHL facility in Sydney to another.
I guess it should be with me tomorrow ![]() On another note, I wish this thing had optical audio out - that's the only spare input I have on my sound system

same story here
mine has also gone from one DHL facility to another these last 3 days - now it has reached DHL facility France, but I live en Denmark, so it will propably take 3 more days off DHL facilities through Europe.... about the optical audio out - you could use a coax to optical converter if optical is the only spare input you have. like this one http://www.av-cables.dk/popup_image.php?...anguage=da |

That reminds me, is there a picture of the connectors at the back? Really poor selection of images out there.

I think someone asked a while ago about heat issues given the fanless design; well there is no doubting that this thing gets hot.
I made the mistake of putting it under another small unit (Surround control box) and after an hour of playing off of the HD it froze up. When I went to the unit it was just about ready for frying eggs on. It recovered OK, but the lack of trick play in MKVs makes watching the end of that film out of the question. I've moved it to its own shelf now and recommend everyone else gives it plenty breathing space as well. John |

It was with HD installed. It is an old 120GB 7200rpm Seagate that I had lying around. Don't know if these are particularly prone to heat problems.
As I mentioned, I think the main problem was that I buried it in with other device in the stack. Clearly it needs a bit of space. John |

The type of Harddisk used kan have an impact on the heat it generates. Usually 5400 rpm harddisks generate less heat, might be a good idea to look around a litle and check the technical specs of different harddrives before desiding which to use. But as Carima also says, obviously free airflow around the unit is required especially since its a fannless design.
The heat has to be able to get away somehow, burying the device in with or under other devices which blocks the airflow and generate heat themselves will make a poor (hot) environment for the unit to run in. |
