Dual Layer DVD iso
I have a couple of older dvds split over both sides of a single disc....goodfellas for one...
I was just about to rip the main movie from both sides with dvdshrink and stick them together but then had a thought...can i rip the main movie from the second half and stick it to the last vob in on the first half....keeping the name the same...sort of tricking the menu into thinking im just watching the first side.... Will this work or does the menu structure see how long each part is etc... TIA S |

RE: Dual Layer DVD iso
Hmmm...
I don't know for sure, but I know that in the past when I've tried to merge .VOBs I've had playback problems. I have one flipper (A Time to Kill), and the way I've arranged it is that I've ripped the movie as two VIDEO_TS folders, then used YAMJ to arrange them into a playlist. That way, when I start the movie it runs to the end of the first disc, then starts the second one without prompting. ... or, of course, you could buy the Goodfellas two-disc special edition! Lovely remaster, great features, and no flipper! Not expensive, either: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodfellas-2-Dis...086&sr=8-1 |

RE: Dual Layer DVD iso
No. Forget it... you're getting into re-authoring to do what you want. That's not trivial.
You can use software (like IFOEdit) to create a movie-only disc, but you can't graft video onto an existing DVD structure without rebuilding the structure itself. If the streams are all identical (in terms of format and tracks and whatnot) you may be able to merge the VOBs together and then feed those into something like MakeMKV or Handbrake to create a single title file in a non-DVD format, though. |
