VGA output?
Is it possible to get a VGA signal out of the Popcorn Hour A100 somehow?

I got my box today and HDMI in 720p mode and Component 720p work fine with my Pioneer PDP-505XDE plasma, but the native panel resolution is 1280x768 and it is only possible to get this res (with no overscan) using the VGA input. It doesn't accept 1280x768 via HDMI Sad

FYI discussed a bit here as a feature request:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/viewtopic.php?t=231

At least youve got one a feature request is going to have to be more than 50 produced in each production run at this rate!!

That feature request seems to be about outputting certain resolutions via Component, which is not quite the same as VGA...

I know its different from VGA but thought that you may be able to piggyback on top of that request.

Anyway my sumvision media enclosure has a similar small factor board, not HD etc obviously, but has a VGA out so it should be possible if numbers want it.

The resolution I want (1280x768) is already offered on HDMI, those guys want non standard resolutions on component Smile I'm only after getting an existing resolution through a VGA connection if possible.

[PH] The model A-100 doesn't support VGA connection, it lacks VGA's HS and VS signal lines.

With a 768p TV (seems to be most of them) I have always found outputting at 1080i (or p if yout tv supports) is a better option for anything other than native 720p content.

Basically the source is being upscalled by the player so rather than upscaling the upscale I have found that images look clearer by downscaling the upscale ... If that makes sense.

In terms of the origional post... Does your TV have a DVI connector? If so an HDMI to DVI cable may help.

As I have a 1024x768 panel (Panasonic PX60) and it cannot accept 1080p60, should I therefore use:
- 1080i60 for NTSC DVD's, 1080p24, 1080i60
- 1080i50 for PAL DVD's, 1080p25, 1080i50
- 720p60 for 720p24, 720p60
Maybe I should ask for this feature to be implemented?

ca197, my Pioneer PDP-505XDE only has 1 HDMI input (this is connected to my Sony receiver which has 3 HDMI inputs). The TV also has Component and VGA inputs. It only accepts 720p and 1080i on HDMI, or 1280x768 (native panel res) on VGA.

I have experimented with 1080i and 720p modes on the Popcorn Hour and I find 720p looks marginally better. Component gives a "softer" image than HDMI.

While the VGA input allows the native resolution, the black level is better using HDMI so I'll probably stick with 720p via HDMI.
