A100 unresponsive (stuck on 'media source' screen) after HDD installation

Hi

Can someone make any suggestions regarding the below? This is what has happened:

1) Installed HDD & connect power
2) HDD recognised after power-up
3) Navigated to 'maintenance' and chose NMT set-up option
4) click through menus to start HDD format and apps install
5) 'please reboot' message appears but A100 reboots itself
6) after reboot the A100 goes to one of my network media sources screen and appears to freeze (does not respond to the remote control)

I powered down (and unplugged), removed the HDD power and rebooted and the A100 returned to normal operation. Power down & reconnect HDD power result in the same freeze.

I've search the threads but not found anything obvious. Does anyone have any ideas?

Update 2 !

Ok, so not completely unresponsive.......

The unit responds to about 1 in 10 remote key presses. Managed to get to the NMT apps screen and enable myiHome (only usenet client and casgle iDVR were running). Can connect and navigate perfectly well from my PC.

Any ideas?

What HDD did you install?
Have you had a look at the wiki compatibility list?

Oh
That explains it then. Old 200Gb Maxtor DiamondMax 10, so doesn't look like I should expect too much. I know this thing isn't a PC but I just assumed that something built to have a HDD installed would be compatible with most manufacturers disks....

To be fair I have just gone through about 4 Maxtor HDD's recently. They ranged from 80Gb to 250Gb and were scavanged from various PC's. They just seem to give up the ghost no matter where I use them.
I have had them in a HDD enclosure, a PC and the NMT, all failed.

For what it's worth, here in Thailand Maxtor drives are all but impossible to find in the market anymore, so many problems with overheating and failures that they got a bad name and people stopped buying them.
