mkv and Windows Media Player 11
I'm using Windows Media Player 11 to share out my media to A-100, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.

I wanted to use A-100 to play mkv files but the files are not showing up in the file list.

Is it possible to stream mkv files to A-100 using Windows Media Player 11 or do I have to use another media server?

Thanks.

Wrong section.

Anyway when I play an mkv through WMP11 on my PC a warning message appears that states that WMP11 does not recognise the mkv extension. It does play on the PC through WMP11 as ive the right apps/codecs installed but as WMP11 doesnt recognise the format they wont show up in the WMP library. There is a way to add mkv to the WMP library:-

Use myihome for mkv if you dont fancy the reg hack.

I've tried the reg hack but still A-100 doesn't see the files.

In WMP 11 itself, the files are listed and can play since the codecs are there.

Got any other ideas since I don't want to install new program just to list the media files.

Thanks.

Will probably not work. From the WMP11 Help file:

Quote:In addition, the file must be of one of the following types:

Music files, such as Windows Media Audio (.wma), MP3 (.mp3), and WAV (.wav) files. (Audio CDs inserted into your computer can't be shared.)

Video files, such as Windows Media Video (.wmv), AVI (.avi), MPEG-1 (.mpeg, .mpg), and MPEG-2 (.mpeg, .mpg) files. (DVD-Video discs inserted into your computer can't be shared.)

Picture files, such as JPEG (.jpeg, .jpg) and PNG (.png) files.

Playlists, such as Windows Media playlist (.wpl) and MP3 playlist (.m3u) files.

Depending on how your computer is configured, the Player might be able to share additional music, video, and picture file types.
I think a Google on this particular subject might give you more insight since WMP can behave strangely about some file types.
