MKV file no audio
Helo,

I have an MKV file, which plays without sound. It plays correctly with sound on my PC (with VLC). I have subtitles and I can change it, but I cannot change audio channel and there is no audio at all. Any idea, why? Here is the mediainfo file:

RE: MKV file no audio
FLAC, which is the #1 audio track is not supported as embedded audio codec, only as codec in audio-only files.

Presumably if you just remove the FLAC track from the MKV, everything will work.

Download mkvtoolnix which contains mkvmergeGUI, and use mkvmergeGUI to remove the FLAC soundtrack, then remux the file and try again.

RE: MKV file no audio
Try pressing the audio button on the remote to switch to the next audio instance, don't know if this will work for this specific movie but I use it to swap between the director talking and the actual movie audio.

PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10
13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB

The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box

RE: MKV file no audio
It indeed helped, thanks. But shouldn't I be able to change audio channels even if the first audio codec is not supported? Or even better PCH should change to the second one by default if the first is not supported.

I suppose you should, and usually you can switch between audio tracks on the fly using the audio button. I dont know why you cant for this one

Well, sometimes we just have to do things ourselves, but the idea isnt bad Smile

But overall you should feel happy the file will even play at all, since its way out of spec

RE: MKV file no audio
If this bothers you, you can run your file through the latest version of MKVmerge and set the AC3 track as track 1 and the FLAC track as track 2.

PCH A-200 16GB USB -> HDMI -> Samsung LN46A650 | A200 -> Toslink -> Logitech Z-5500 (Harmony 700)
PCH C-200 8GB USB -> HDMI -> Sharp LC46D64U (Harmony 550)
Eversion/Whisper skin (custom MOD) + WHS V1 (15TB Q6600/4GB RAM ) -> Mediasonic HR82-SU3S2 (Backup)
