[A110] USB Load Failed on 2.5" External HDD
Hi,
I've had the A110 device for several months but until now I didn't have the time to share my concerns about 2.5" external USB harddisks connectivity on the A110. During this time I've been researching this forum for the right answer to my problem, but I always came up with the same solution(s). I'd like to share my experience. I own three different 2.5" usb harddisks. All of them are formatted using NTFS. One of them is a Fujitsu 160GB HDD, another one a WD 500GB and the last one was home-built using an "Advance"-branded case and an old 40GB 2.5" IDE disk I had available. I've tried to connect all of them using either the front and the rear ports, with or without the wireless PCH dongle connected and I even bought a powered hub, which I also used to connect to both ports on the A110. I've tried 4 different USB cables, using both "Y" and non-"Y" types (double connector for more power, banana style). I connected all of these cables directly to the A110 and to the powered hub. My results are inconsistent with what is being said on the forum - unlucky me. I was only able to get the Fujitsu drive detected, with or without the hub, and with or with the "Y" usb cable. It's always detected. The other drives simply result in a USB Load Failed, after which I have to reset the box. I'd like to know what else can/should I try and if you think this could be a faulty box or not. I hope I'm not repeating someone else's questions, but be sure I've taken the time to properly search this forum. Thank you, |
