Internal hdd, keeps turning back on when I put my A100 on standby?
Hi all,
When I put my A100 on standby my internal hdd keeps turning back on. Is there no way to make it stay turned off without pulling out the power? Thanks! |

This is an old, old problem, dude. Firmware fixes have improved the issue I think, but not completely cleared it.
Do you use the NMT Apps on your A-100? If you don't, turning them off has been shown to work for some people. Turning off myiHome worked for me. EDIT: I use an A-110, by the way. But I believe the situation is the same... ... oh, and, welcome to the forum, by the way. |

Thanks.
Well, i tried turning off all my NMT apps but myIHome says it's Starting, but nothing ever happens, so I can't turn it off. Turning off all the other apps didn't fix the problem. |

Oh, I had that problem for a while... I'm trying to remember how I finally convinced myiHome to stop "starting"!
I seem to recall it's something to do with your NMT's IP address. Is it currently set to Automatic? If it is, change it to Manual and give it a specific IP. At that point, you should be able to fully disable myiHome. I think...! Sorry, but it's been four or five months since I had this problem. I can't completely remember. Let me know whether that works. |

Allrite, i'll let you know. Meanwhile I'd like to ask you another question cause you seem really clever
![]() How do I stream movies from my A100 to a PC on the network? EDIT: Okay, I got myIHome to stop saying starting just by rebooting. So I turned it off and put it on standby but the hdd keeps turning back on. |

Hahahahahaha...!!!
Clever? Me?! No... well, I'm clever in some respects, but not when it comes to the NMT. Somebody else solved the spin-up problem. And I'm afraid I know nothing about networking. I don't network my NMT at all, you see. I run all my content from USB drives connected directly to my A-110. I'm sure somebody else prowling around will be able to answer that, though. Most of the guys on this forum use networking. |

RE: Internal hdd, keeps turning back on when I put my A100 on standby?
So, did you switch the IP from Auto to Manual? Because that, I think, is the most important step. If you leave the IP on Auto, myiHome will keep searching for a network, which will cause your drive to spin-up.
I think that's the explanation... ask someone clever if you want to know for sure! |

But if myIHome is turned off, will it still keep searching for a network?
EDIT: Using manual IP settings doesn't work either.

RE: Internal hdd, keeps turning back on when I put my A100 on standby?
It shouldn't do, no. But like I said, the guy who solved the problem for me told me to turn the IP from Auto to Manual, so I did. My understanding doesn't run any deeper than that!

Is your A100 on a network?
What model hard drive? Most common causes I've seen for this is having the Casgle app running or the torrent app. Make sure they're Stopped. Also, If you have the Samba server running and you have have your A100 hard drive mapped to a drive letter in Windows, Windows keeps checking the drive causing it to spin up. Personally, I leave my A110 on all the time. My Western Digital Green 1TB hard drive spins down on it's own after a few minutes of inactivity. |

If I understand your question right it's like accessing any net attached devices - by the unc, like: \\device\folderfile.fil where device might be the nmt's ip, folder is a shared folder and then the file itself. Say the nmt has an internal IP of 192.168.1.110, then you can explore it by putting Code: \\192.168.1.110Take care! (Oups:- ) Edited /'s) Syvio 200 | SB Duet | LG 50PG6000 |
