Hi Trev, have you read the Audioconverter support thread for clues to solving your problem?

If after reading the thread you still can't get it to work, try posting in that thread and I think HeartWare will be able to sort you out:

Hi Trev1,

You might want to try this on those Divx3 files:

http://forum.videohelp.com/topic346946.html#1819678

It will convert the video to Divx5 without re-encoding (yes, that is what I said), and it will do it in minutes. I have used it for quite a while and it works great. Just make sure that you read the instructions in the post carefully.

RE: My popcorn refuses to play some AVI files?? why?
^In the guide he says it will 'transcode' from DivX3 to DivX5 which indicates something more than a mere remux. Maybe this is just a bad choice of words on his part though? If so it would be truly brilliant.

Also, the file is not available here in South-East Asia, is there any chance somebody could put it on a publicly available site instead, like RapidShare or put it in a torrent on a public tracker?

Out of interest, what type of output video device do you watch your videos on, and can you really not see any difference in quality?

RE: My popcorn refuses to play some AVI files?? why?
Yes, it is more than a remux. From what little I understand, it uses a special build of ffmpeg that has been hacked by a guy on Doom9 and which passes quantized coeffs, mb types and vectors from the msmpeg4 decoder to the mpeg4 encoder directly. It doesn't actually re-encode the video, but rather alters the video stream spec to make it DivX5 compatible.

The original Doom9 thread about this ffmpeg build and the details can be found here:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=85229

I have put the file up on Rapidshare for you.

http://rapidshare.com/files/273001355/Di...4.zip.html

I watch my videos on a HP 50" plasma, and I haven't spotted any difference in quality.

RE: My popcorn refuses to play some AVI files?? why?
Picking up this old thread, since I have the same problem...

No audio on the PCH, but on the PC works fine. Also, 2 minutes in play PHC freezes image, when I press fast forward it runs through the whole movie in about half a second and then flashes back to the PCH menu.. No problem with other files though. I'm about to use AVIRecomp, below are the details of the file (Final Destination 4).

Clues, anyone? Much appriciated!

AVIRecomp worked like a charm!

Still wondering why it wouldn't play, though..

Probably junk info in the AVI header.
I've had the same problem with several AVI's (video but no sound).
After remuxing some files (and removing the junk info) the file played with audio but the audio was out of sync.

When i reverted back to firmware version 01-17-081023 the original AVI's played fine. So i'm sticking to this firmware version for now.
