CRT 4:3 TV connection
Sorry, I have tried to research this, but to no avail - so a couple of quick questions please:
I have an (older) CRT TV with standard def and 4:3 ratio. It has a standard RCA video connection. Will I be able to use the C200 with this TV until I get a new HDTV? Will there be a problem with scaling or fitting 16:9 aspect video? RE: CRT 4:3 TV connection
You really need to get a new TV and quick.
Yes you can via component but you cannot use composite. So it will be red/blue/green NOT yellow cables with audio via red/white or to an amp via SPDIF or HDMI. As far as what you will see remember we have the A100/110 so far and they are used on some SD Tv's with YAMJ having a SD theme for use so you should be OK. Thanks for the reply, umm.. sorry - you obviously know what you are talking about but.... this thread with the spec says composite out? The TV only has composite connection not component. I am still a little confused. I will have to check my amp as it has a component in connection and a composite out although I am not sure if it is just pass through or not - and probably won't be able to find out util I actually test it. So I guess I am asking if the spec is correct or not? RE: CRT 4:3 TV connection
Unless I'm wrong, the C-200 does have composite-out (yellow/red/white). I'm assuming your 16:9 videos will just be letterboxed on your 4:3 TV.

RE: CRT 4:3 TV connection
You wont be able to play blu ray or DVD iso's from a drive over composite, so anything retail with protection (I think this is what chris is talking about?). You should be fine playing rips or video files from a HDD though.

I have streamed 720p, 1080p videos via HTTP and DVD ISO's via SMB to my 25" 4:3 CRT with no problems. The PCH downscales the HD streams to composite PAL output with no problems. RE: CRT 4:3 TV connection
Thanks guys for you responses, - I have ordered it a while ago and suddenly got a bit worried after reading some posts regarding video output.
All I have to do now is wait for it to arrive - and save up some cashola for the TV.

RE: CRT 4:3 TV connection
Yes I'm talking retail playback which via composite is unavailable. Just because something is fine on A100/110 it does not mean it is on the C200 and vice versa. The C200 has more licenses to comply with and one means no composite retail DVD or BD playback.
Fine for all downloaded stuff. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |
