The YAMJ FAQ & Wiki Thread
This is a thread I've put together that, when combined with the YAMJ wiki, will help people trying to find answers without having to create a new thread.
Please give an honest try, and if it doesn't answer your question then try searching this thread and the forum. And if you still can't find your answer, feel free to make a new thread Smile So if you've got a question… try the "Find/Search" option in your internet browser in this post first. There's a good chance you'll find a link to your question. Note: If you see a question asked a lot that I've missed, post the question and thread and I'll add it to the list. Multiple links for one question are fine… the more the better really. YAMJ Wiki http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/w/list YAMJ Requirements: The program itself, is here Sun Java Runtime enviroment version 1.6 foundhere Mediainfo (YAMJ will work without this, but you will not have any media info). Download Here YAMJ Basic Setup 1. Change your NMT path in the moviejukebox.properties file. Note if you have more then one location for movie files you need to use the Libraries.xml file. See more informationhere 2. Go via command prompt to where you've installed/unzipped the files. 3. Type moviejukebox (directory you want scanned) -o (the place you want the jukebox created) Brief Example of use on a internal HDD stored in your NMT: Code: moviejukebox z:\Video -o z:\yamjThis will scan for movie files in my internal hard drive that I've mapped as Z: on my computer. And it will place all of the files I've created on that internal hard drive under "yamj" If you need further assistance, try the step by step setup guide found here: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=23929 or here http://www.pettingers.org/code/yamj-basics.html You can also use Omertron's GUI config tool to help you with this process YAMJ GUI Config tool: YAMJ GUI Config tool http://mediaplayersite.com/YAMJ_GUI_Config Download FAQ Latest YAMJ 1. I hear people talking about the latest YAMJ build, isn't that the one on the Google page? A: The answer to that is yes and no, the Google page will always have the most current OFFICIAL release; beta versions of YAMJ are always available on Omertron's site. These allow users to test new features as they become available. NOTE: THESE VERSIONS ARE BETA'S AND MAY NOT BE 100% FUNCTIONAL. Download here: http://pch.omertron.com/YAMJ_Latest General Questions 1. I'm wondering if there's an easier way to run the jukebox than having to go into the PH's hard drive, select File mode then load index.htm? -1a Can I have the Popcorn Hour boot directly into YAMJ? http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=27024 2. Is a hard drive needed to use YAMJ? A: No, it will work with just about any type of setup you have, USB, SMB, NFS, NAS and I believe even HTTP. However HTTP isn't officially supported, so help might be harder to get. http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=27034 http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=26828 3. Can i install YAMJ with a Mac? http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=26775 4. How do I exit YAMJ and get back to the default menu? http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...e+jukebox. http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=26057 http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=22356 5. Will this work on a Standard Definition television? A: Yes there are currently versions of skins available in both HD and SD. See the wiki for setup instructions. 6. Do i need to leave my Computer on to use the jukebox? A: In general, no. If you have an NAS and/or internal hard drive you ONLY need the computer to make the jukebox files. Once they've been created and placed on your internal hard drive or NAS, or any other source, the computer is no longer needed. 7. Is there a Step-By-Step walkthrough? A: Yes you can find it HERE or and alternate version here 8. I think I've found a bug! --8a. I've been asked to log an issue, what do I do? A: Firstly, you should search this excellent forum and see if you can find information from someone else about the problem. Often it's been reported before and has a fix or a resolution. You should search the issue list here: Issue List for your problem and see if it's already been logged. Make sure you change the search from "Open Issues" to "All Issues" so you get the issues that have been closed (fixed). Try different versions of the wording it could be "poster" or "artwork" or "picture". If you find you issue and it's closed, this means it's been fixed in a version of the code. That version should be written in the closure comments as "Fixed in r????" or similar. To fix your problem, you should update your YAMJ version to at least that version of the code. If it doesn't exist, or you can't find anything similar, then create a new issue. Please include as much information as possible about how to re-create the problem. If we can't reproduce it we can't fix it. Screenshots, log files, filenames all help us track the issue down. And remember to respond to any developer comments as quickly as possible, it's our time too ![]() 9. Howd do I request a new enhancement A: Check the Issue List for your problem and see if it's already been logged. Remember to search "All Issues" because it could already have been addressed and fixed. If it doesn't exist, create a new issue with as much information about the requirement as possible. Describe the outcome, similar functionality held elsewhere, if you are a coder you can submit patches to be included as well. Not every request can be fulfilled, especially those for additional language plugins as these really require a native speaker to be able to decode and read the source site. Errors 1. I get a "Could not play" message http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=26702 http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=26174 2. I was thinking that this thread should have a special link at the top like "YAMJ FAQ" next to "NMT Wiki".
