...false alarm about my network problems.

Failed to spot that the subnet mask on the C-200 was set to 255.255.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0.

Everything is peachy now, sorry about the interruption, carry on... Blush

In 2016, probably... Big Grin

However, the next firmware is scheduled to be released this week. May go into next week, however, if they encounter a problem in their internal testing.

Can the IR remote reception be disabled? I am using the RF remote, but the cross-over between Dune and A-100 remotes are annoying. When I push OK to play something, all three devices play whatever is selected.

Just don't connect the IR eye to your C-200 and use the RF remote instead.

Werner.

I suspect Blush that when you are releasing the first official

firmware to the C-200 ( i think it was this week ) it will be

some bugs/limits left in it. Then it would be nice if you in the

release notes also specify what's NOT solved/still suffer limits.

I think that if you do so it's going to be easier to spot new bugs Undecided

No, there should be three holes for the mini-PCI wifi-antennas.

[Moved from the thread Network Speeds as they belong in this thread]

Testing notes from this BETA firmware:

Streaming over http is absolutely beautiful from my attempts (I've used Myihome).

Having fixed my initial SMB/workgroup issues (due entirely to my own failure to see that the subnet masks did not match across my network devices Big Grin) I am now going to test the playback of ISO, VIDEO_TS, mp3, MKV and BDMV over SMB.

After that, testing external sub/idx with XviD/AVI. The 5 ISOs I've tried over SMB (approx 5-10 minutes of playing time testing various remote commands) work just fine.

No stuttering of any kind, and subs and audio tracks are selectable via the remote, zooming is incremental (1% at a time).

Tried 3 VIDEO_TS as well, among them 2 that I had streaming problems with on the A-100 (one of these is slightly corrupt from copying between hard disks so it still has some macro blocking in places, but this is visible when playing it on a PC as well). They stream without stuttering on the C-200.

One problem I noticed - similarly to on the A-100, anamorphic widescreen DVDs (VIDEO_TS and ISO) are output with pillarboxing instead of filling up the screen with the 16:9 picture.

Got to take a break now but will be back with more results soon.

Xvid AVI with external sub/idx does not appear to play with this beta firmware. The AVI I tested had a VOBSUB subtitle with dual languages (eng/fre) - within a single set of sub/idx.

From testing, the external .sub/.idx is ignored, while the audio and video in the AVI plays as it should.

I did a bit of fiddling on the test file to see if I could do something about it.

Used the program AVIMuxGUI to remux the AVI into MKV (using the default settings of the program, except for changing the output to MKV [default is AVI]). The result was an MKV file which the C-200 would not play.

Despite this, I added that same non-playing MKV file to version 2.9.8 of mkvmerge GUI, and then added the .sub/.idx file, preserving both language tracks.

The result: The remuxed MKV file with embedded VOBSUB track plays exactly as it should, with both subtitle languages selectable by the remote. Big Grin

Since these operations require no re-encoding, just remuxing, they are very quick; Once you have installed the remuxing software it will not take much more than 4-5 minutes to go from a standard XviD AVI with external sub/idx, to a playing MKV file with sub/idx inside and no quality degradation.

If this is repeatable with other AVI files, I will post the process in the tutorial subforum soon.

hm this should be fixed in the "retail" firmware right? as it states sub/idx support. a xvid with external sub/idx should be supported or have I gotten it wrong?

Yes, this will get fixed in one of the upcoming firmwares, I cannot promise it will be in the next one cause I dont know what Syabas has worked on in that one, but certainly yes it will be fixed at some point.
