RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
if you have working player make backup from shell

cat /dev/sigmblocka > /USB_DRIVE_B-1/sigmblocka

if you have bricked player you must use serial console cable , hdd with special boot image and try to boot from it and try to make bаckup xenv from yamon over tftp , if you success from yamon make nand format , load xenv and linux safe and after this player boot to standart recovery

RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
sorry for not given a response more soon but work and university is killing me at pieces.

But 876 user can you please give more detailed instructions to do that kind of task of backing up the working c-200 and restoring it to when it goes puff with the firmwares updates.

Because i had to sent my c-200 board to United States and already received a new one but i had to pay more 100$ at customs, and i had already paid almost 200$ when i received first time, so next time a firmware goes wrong i'd like to have a plan B .....

Best regards

RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
I have the same problem as others in this thread. Update is stalled at 11% or 13% depending on the firmware I use.

Am I correct to assume that the only solution is to send it back (it is still under warranty) for repair?

RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
Werner
Help me please.
NAND Flash bad block, I corrected it.
nflash format 0
.....
I connected the PC via UART0, and he can update the firmware.
NAND flash I successfully format, c200_recovery_090729 is 100%, after the restart on TV "POP CORN loading" and stop.
The initial block (0 xenv 0x80000), probably has the encryption key.
Therefore, the standard rekoveri.bin not restored.

Popcorn Hour Support can not help, that's what I was told:
"The recovery bin files already uploaded at here http://support.popcornhour.com/article.aspx?id=1089 while the rekovery.bin or other sigma chipset
related blue print firmware we are not in position here to provide support. You may refer to our forum moderator werner who is the person in charge
between our firmware developers and users.
I need another recovery-image.bin or xenv.
Send to the C-200 for RMA warranty claim I can not.

This last hope.
Sorry for bad English.

Mod edit: Offending text removed. This is your one and only warning, read the rules as cross flashing for whatever reason is not tolerated on this forum and usually earns an immediate ban. I appreciate your problem but discuss these matters elsewhere as the offical NMT Owners forum will not tolerate this due to licensing repercussions.

RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
I shall say this only once:-

1. Discussion on firmware in detail and how to rescue players via UART etc. is fine.
2. If this involves cross flashing then you will be banned from this forum immediately. There are other forums for those type of activities where licenses are broken and as this is the official NMT owners forum it is certainly not something that can or will ever be tolerated here.

I hope I have been very clear on the subject.

RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
Once again he tried to thumbdrive. failed again and locked the device. Restart the screen capture. Tried to recover. ERR019 impossible. Put the jumper and tried again. FAIL ERR019 same and the drive is locked. It is now unusable.

RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
Hi all,

I just tried to upgrade my popcorn hour A200 to the latest release 02-04-101106-21-POP-411-000.
I launched the upgrade through the preferences menu.

After about 80% I got an error... ERR022

I followed the recovery steps suggested in several threads but nothing worked...
I am not getting any blue screen prompting for the usb stick.
And when I use the jumper, same problem.

I actually am getting no signal from the popcornhour...

Anyone, any suggestions please?

I read the whole thread already, there are some talks about repairing the flash... but I am not sure I understand what is said...
Is there a factory reset function?

Thanks.

RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
My C-200 seems bricked. I did the firmware recovery using the jumper-method twice with no problem, but last time it threw an ERR019 at me an now refuses to boot. The power button reacts by pushing it (turns from red to white), but nothing happens on the small LCD or the screen using HDMI.

I suspects it's due to faulty flash, ram or mainboard because it has acted weird for some days. The most weird thing I've noticed in my troubleshooting today is that it once restored settings that are at least a few weeks old - How weird is that?

I'm a little offended that discussion of firmware recovery is prohibited on this forum. Essentially Syabas are saying "If you bricked you device and are out of warranty, you're on your own. Buy a new one, because you MAY NOT try to recover it, even though it's possible". How arrogant is that? I can understand this policy for devices that are within warranty, and it usually cancels any warranty left if there has been any unofficial tampering with the device.

RE: [C-200] How to recover Firmware if something goes wrong
My c200 has also the error -19 en no warranty anymore.
Does anyone know what is cost to let it be repaired.. in the netherlands..?
I think syabas should provide a tool to fix the bad blocks on the nand.
They sent a whole bunch of c200's with bad nand's in it.
They should do a call back like toyota does all the time...lol
Selling crap stuff and do nothing about it can't be right.

Maby we should make a list of popcorn owners with bad nand's and sent that list popcornhour or syabas.
