How come very few of some movies wont play in english?

Hello to all,

I have the PCH A-110 and for the most part it works great. I do have a question though. Sometimes when I back up a movie it does not play in english. Here is what I do I use dvdFab to back movie to hard drive.
Next I use DVD shrink to re author uncheck all other languages execpt
english but movie plays in french or spanish. As an example I backed up
Batman, but movie played in french so I deleted it and tried again leaving all languages intact but the movie still played in french. I also use vob merge to make one large image and for example name it Batman.mpg the dvd plays in english. I weoul;d like to know if this a problem with the PCH and if I can correct it. This only happens once in 20 backups.
I would really appreciate any help any one can give me regarding this

Have you tried to switch audio tracks when playing? Is there English track at all?

P.S.
I have had issues with DVDShrink wher audio tracks and track id get mixed and English track can be displayed as Russion or something like that ... There was some settings regarding this in DVDShrink preferences.

Lets try and look at your problem

Thats not really possible, if all audiotracks are removed except english, well then it can only play English, it cant play in french or spanish if the audio tracks are not there.
So - this means something must be going wrong when you reathour it somehow.
Perhaps DVD shrink read the audio track ID's wrong and keep the wrong track when you select it should keep english, perhaps something else went wrong. Its difficult to say exactly what from here, but I can say for certain that this is not a problem of the PCH, but something in the reauthoring process gone wrong.

I recommend trying different reauthoring processes and check out some of the guides in this forum for best ways to backup DVD

I recommend not doing this because this way you have no support for multiple audio tracks, chapters and subtitles etc.
If you need one file only instead of a regular DVD structure, then use makemkv instead to create an mkv file containing the original video and multiple audiotracks you can select between or one track if you only want this, working chapters and subtitles (which arent supported currently but may be in a future firmware update) - just as easy to use as vobmerge, just as fast, and gives you a better endresult with more options that plays well on the PCH
