Do you have coaxial audio in on your current receiver?

RE: receiver for popcorn
The Logitech Z-5500 is what spawn recommended to me when I asked approximately the same question as you, back in March 2008.
I have used it with my A-100 since I got it, and am really satisfied with it. Googled a little and it appears to be available for 266 USD these days - here for example: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q...ps-sellers - I guess you can increase your budget by 16 dollars? RE: receiver for popcorn
Ok, fair enough.
You could sell your home theatre system and buy the Logitech though, it is a total solution, no separate amp needed. Found this avsforum thread from a guy in a similar situation, could be helpful for you perhaps: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthrea...294&page=2 Media tank:A-100 & C-200 TV:Panasonic TH-50PY800MT (HDMI) Audio:Logitech Z-5500 (Coaxial) |

RE: receiver for popcorn
i didnt see if you had 7.1 or 5.1 setup ... which would equate to different receivers all together.
i personally would recommend pioneer ... here or here doing a quick search for both models ... prices come reasonably close to your price point ... both control ipods ..have HDMI and 1080p switching ... all the latest and greatest HD sounds ... Pioneer vsx819 ah-k (5 channel less than $300 on the web) Pioneer vsx919 ah-k (7 channel less than $350 on the web) both prices include shipping UPDATE ... $329 w/ free shipping from newegg IMHO and even professional opinion the 919 is your best bet as its pretty much future proof Im an AV enthusiast and licensed custom retailer/installer and would recommend the Pioneer units to anyone in your situation. My personal preference for hi-end would either be Integra or Pioneer Elite ... both of which I sell/install. If you were in the States id hook you up with one at near cost ... but its not worth sending overseas. |

I personally would either wait until you can spend another 100 dollars because you would end up regretting not doing it very shortly after figuring out none of what you will want your theater to do will be possible. The whole idea of having blu-ray and high definition is not only the picture, but the HD sound as well... and yes there is a HUGE difference between Dolby Digital and lossless DTSHD ... its like going from black and white tube tv to HD LED 1080p More importantly ..this LG receiver lacks any of the modern audio decoders ...so any high definition movie you have will not play in DTS-HD or lossless audio ... or any of the standard HD sounds. |
