A100 Video freezing/locking up problem
HI,
Ive had my A100 for ages now and never had many problems that i couldnt solve with it but in the past few days sometimes when it plays a file the video will play fine but then at a random time the video will freeze and stop playing ( sometimes the audio carries on). the Popcorn is still functional i can go back to the menus etc but when i try and play another file it says cannot play, and stays this way til i do a reboot. Is this a sign the Popcorn is starting to fail ? Forgot to mention that when you try and play another file after the lockup you can see a frame of the video that it locked on instead of a black background when it says buffering |

RE: A100 Video freezing/locking up problem
The behaviour you get sounds like the memory leak problem where a corrupt file that refuses to play will cause a memory leak that locks up the player and requires a reboot to get back to normal.
Have you recently got a new type of files or started using a different source of files by any chance, or it could be that there is something wrong with the hardware in your computer (e.g. memory modules, hard disk [or the hard disk in your PCH]) that causes the files to become corrupted when copied. No the setup is identical and the files that are freezing have worked perfectly before

RE: A100 Video freezing/locking up problem
I have the A110 which freezes video on some HD files I have edited with VideoReDo. The video only freezes at the start of a cut made using VideoReDo. The original file plays without problems. The edited file plays fine on all software media players on my PC - such as Media Player Classic and ArcSoft TotalMedia Extreme. The problem is associated with the I frames inserted by VideoReDo at the cut. I am working with VideoReDo on the issue, but I wanted to know if a Popcorn Hour expert could look at the problem too. I have had the A-110 for around 1 year and it is one of the best pieces of equipment I have bought! It plays just about every media file I throw at it and has been enjoyed thoroughly by myself and my wife.
Hope you can help. |

Due to the differences of your gets set up id highly recommend you starting a different thread lol. As of the OP, are you using an external hard drive or internal? |
