C200 + Z5500 + PS3
Hi.

I currently have a PS3, which I use to play dvds and Blu-Rays. I´m thinking about getting the new C200, but I found out that it wasn't compatible with both a dvd-drive and 3.5" internal hdd.

So is there any way to connect my Logitech Z5500 speakers to both the C200 and PS3(for blu.ray and dvd playing). Or connect the speakers to the C200 and the PS3 to the C200 again so I don't have to swap cables if I want to watch a regular dvd with good sound?

Thanks!

RE: C200 + Z5500 + PS3
I have a similar setup.

the Z5500 have 2 inputs, 1 optical and 1 coaxial.

You can use either the optical or coaxial for the C200. As for me i have 4 devices going into my Z5500, i use a 4 port switch with a remote that allows me to switch the coaxial source.

PCH A-200 16GB USB -> HDMI -> Samsung LN46A650 | A200 -> Toslink -> Logitech Z-5500 (Harmony 700)
PCH C-200 8GB USB -> HDMI -> Sharp LC46D64U (Harmony 550)
Eversion/Whisper skin (custom MOD) + WHS V1 (15TB Q6600/4GB RAM ) -> Mediasonic HR82-SU3S2 (Backup)
D-Link DNS 323 for sale

That is true for the basic config, but there are already user modifications being tested, such as with slimline optical drive and 3.5" HDD, and another guy has fitted 2 3.5" HDDs in his C-200.

There will soon be a wiki page on user mods, which we expect to see growing as more and more of the early adopters try out their individual setups and share their experiences.

At this stage I would not go for one of these solutions unless you are prepared that it might not work as intended, especially since you can use your Z-5500 with the PS3 and the C-200 simultaneously, just like Specter said.

Still, I just wanted to point it out that there may be such options in the future if you want to try them out after somebody else has already confirmed it is a working option. Wink

RE: C200 + Z5500 + PS3
Thanks!

Will just go for the splitter, maybe I can connect my TV so I can watch TV with the speakers to. I looked in to an HTPC last week, but it´s like twice as expensive as the C200.

I´m buying it, looks like a great device. The PS3 is a good dvd-player anyways. I´m a torrent addict so my only worries is getting the rss and everything set up properlySmile

I would argue it can.

I have a BDrom and 2.5", but I could fit a 3.5" if I really wanted to. But make it a green drive for heat considerations, and put in a fan. Luckily, they left a fan-mounting exactly were the HDD goes. (Air vents and screw holes).

You really do not need the splitter if you are using only 2 sources, you can use the coaxial for the C200 and the optical for the PS3 and just switch it using the Z5500 remote.

Be warned that the 4 port switch i linked to is a component 4 port switch, i cannot speak for the video quality as is never used that part,i just used the audio part and its perfect IMO.
