Windows 7 share - Cant see files in folder
I have windows 7 just installed.

I shared a folder, and through the network share added it to my sources on the c200.(so I can view dvd and iso files) I can see the folder but I cant see the files in it. I get a messege saying

cant find the workgroup list.

how do I fix it so I can see the files and play them.

thanks

You can fix it by searching this site Big Grin.

There are too many users asking about Windows 7 sharing even though the question is answered many times.

Im not on my Windows 7 machine right now so i cannot walk you through it, if you do not get though within the next 3 hours ill be on my Widows 7 machine by then and walk you through it.

RE: Windows 7 share - Cant see files in folder
Ensure that "Everyone" is added in Tab Security !! with read-access, otherwise you only will see an empty share,..as you have described.

With secpol.msc (Start - run) do the following setting:
Network Access: Let everyone permissions apply to anonymous : Enable

Guest account needs to be enabled as well.

Adding guest-account to share should not be needed this way.

RE: Windows 7 share - Cant see files in folder
Add Everyone to Security and follow described steps 2 posts above.

You can enable guest-account in secpol.msc as well as you have problems to do it at CP-User

Start - Run - type secpol.msc and hit return.

You have to add "Everyone" in Tab "Security" (Properties of folder you want to share)

CP is ControlPanel.

ok we getting somewhere as I am learing I opend the Local Securty Policy with the run command.

under accounts I have guesss account status enabled and adminstrtor account status disabled is that wrong????

I enabled... Network Access: Let everyone permissions apply to anonymous : Enable

this line I dont understand (excuse my limited computer skills) : You have to add "Everyone" in Tab "Security" (Properties of folder you want to share)

do I have to creae a user called everyone with the edit button and then add??

RE: Windows 7 share - Cant see files in folder
simply rightclick on the folder you want to share,
select share with specific people
type Everyone in the empty field using your keyboad and hit the add button

You will then have added the group "Everyone" with read rights
Windows 7 sharing in 3 easy steps

1. network settings

2. Folder sharing

RE: Windows 7 share - Cant see files in folder
When adding to Wiki keep in mind all steps are necessary, Spawn`s description alone won`t do it, you have to do ALL the setting described in the last posts.

As these settings are needed for almost all Mediaplayers to work with Win7 a Wiki defiinitely makes sense.
