RE: Censorship?
shelved you wish... getting "shelfed" in Sweden is a totally different activity that is not discussed lightly among innocent forum members.
It involves a darkroom.....and using the extreamer...... I will say no more...

PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 + 6 Bowers & Wilkins speakers.
10 NTFS 2TB USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A400, 2 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB, 2 Seagate Central NAS 4TB.

The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box...

RE: Censorship?
If you have a faulty C200 RMA it and get it fixed. Unless of course you are simply referring to the firmware improvements that the c200 needs, as does the xtreamer.

RE: Censorship?
IMHO, I see this forum for NMT product and thus discussion on other competing products is pointless.

A more appropriate place would be A/V video enthusiast website forums which are not geared to a
single product family. In that place comparisons and window-shopping are more appropriate.

Give me the delete and banning buttons... I'll use them well! Tongue

Not very nice. I think some of them come here to learn the pros and cons of a PCH. They use another unit as a reference because it is something they know a little about. Their next buy might be a PCH if treated in a decent manner.

I could be wrong but besides supporting current PCH owners, I think this site helps enlist new buyers.

I know that some come here to stir shit but some come to actually learn/decide. The fine line is to decide who is who. I think the current mods are doing a good job without excessive deleting & banning.

C-200, A-110 both playing from a DIY Linux Raid 5 server.

Remuxes, Captures and Transcodes done on a desktop running;
Win7, Intel i7 hexacore processor with 24 GB ram, WD VR OS drive and a WD Black 2 TB data drive.

RE: Censorship?
That's the way it should be seen garp.

This forum is for NMT issues so anything that contains other information on alternative devices is immediately Off Topic.

For those wishing to discuss Other Media Players or want a WTF v NMT thread go to AVSForums or AVForums.

I do think that we should still have an Off Topic section for things like new technology or 'look at my kittens' type of threds, but not here's the next best thing in a plastic box from China.

RE: Censorship?
I really dont get this VS thread's either. Almost all streaming players play the same basic stuff. I just dont see one doing it better then the other. sure c-200 has samba problems right now but they will get worked out. They all have some sort of basic Gui. No one is spending the $10,000 to use imdb api. Although a few are doing it illegally. All of them are made in china plastic or metal. Hell all of them could even be made in the same factory. Only time you will get a VS thread is when someone wants to nitpick on something, Or blame a feature that is not there. Which in turn makes it a bias VS thread.

I actually have a case at support, they claim there is no fault what so ever with the firmware and C-200....

I'm sure that E have issues to but at least it works for my needs, C-200 don't permit me to see a whole move without problem...

But as Spawn wrote I'm sure they will fix it and then I will sell my E and keep my C-200

RE: Censorship?
I think the main problem with the vs threads is that people post them naively....or aggressively....'this is better than the C200 because...' or 'which should i buy - the C200 or a potato?'

RE: Censorship?
I think its because users post cheaper alternatives. Users compare because most users who are smart enough to find these players are downloads. Downloaders that what the the cheapest solution to get that newly Usenet downloaded movie from their computer to their screen.

When the PCH launched it was the only solution out there that supported the vast majority of codecs that release groups use. The same goes with porn.

So when someone looks at the prices, first thought is that, what a second, im not buying any physical media so what benefit will a c200 bring that this other cheap player cant do.

PCH A-200 16GB USB -> HDMI -> Samsung LN46A650 | A200 -> Toslink -> Logitech Z-5500 (Harmony 700)
PCH C-200 8GB USB -> HDMI -> Sharp LC46D64U (Harmony 550)
Eversion Whisper eskin + WHS V1 (25TB Q6600/4GB RAM ) -> Mediasonic HR82-SU3S2 (Backup)

That's kind of a silly statement generalizing people looking for an alternative to the C200. I for one have no plans on purchasing a C200
but it's not because i download movies off the internet and don't buy discs, it's because i don't need all the extras and i already have a blu-ray player(2 in fact) to play my movies on and like the idea of ripping my movies and having them in one neat place with a cool interface where if i feel like jumping from movie to movie(ADHDSmile) i don't have to get up to change a disc.

At first i considered the C200 but then realized something else might work better as i didn't need the extra functionality and cost especially
since i didn't know how well it would perform as i bought the A-110 a while back an have had mostly trouble with playing back high bit rate movies consistently which was very frustrating because that's all i needed it for, nothing else.

I know the PCH may be a million times better overall than a lot of the competing products but my needs are simple and if it doesn't do the one thing that i (or someone else)need it to do well or it's got features that you don't want or need then that's a case where someone might look for an alternative not because their pirates.Smile

RE: Censorship?
Some people incorrectly see the C200 as a replacement for the A110, it is not.

Like you say above many have no need for BD or disc playback and prefer a small unit to a full size HiFi unit. The A110 will play all high bitrate files that are within retail BD spec. The next PCH I feel will be a A110 replacement, a C200 but in small form factor, this is just my opinion.

Having had the C200 for a short while, she exploded by lighting, I also feel the same way. The C200 is definitely not a replacement.

RE: Censorship?
i bitch and moan often ...but I can honestly say ... even with an open mind and not biased towards this c200 ... after the network issue or break work around ... the c200 is doing everything I need and expect it to do...

the rest of what its promised to in later firmwares/development will simply be a bonus ... thats a review that is both pithy and honest.

So .. does it do gig network ...NO ... does it still stream video ... YES ...does it play all the video i throw at it ..YES ...
