[SUBTITLE] SRT files not working
I've seen that this has been posted before, but none of the solutions I've found did solve my problem. Things like making sure that subtitles are enabled in the setup, that subtitles is on when pressing the subtitle button, changing subtitle language etc.
When using .srt subtitles with .avi files, no text is shown eventhough subtitles is enabled. Same .avi and .srt works fine on pc with MPC HC. In some post it was mentioned that this was a known bug and would be fixed in 2 weeks, but that post is 2 months old I think and no new firmware is out. I already have the newest one. So how can I solve this? I have the popcorn A110. // Bejje |

RE: [SUBTITLE] SRT files not working
Are the files named the same?
SomeMovie.avi gives SomeMovie.srt Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

RE: [SUBTITLE] SRT files not working
Also remember you can't have
SomeMovie.eng.srt SomeMovie.sve.srt either Only one external sub per movie and it must be named exactly as the movie otherwise it won't get picked up. If you want to use multiple subtitles the workaround is to mux the subtitles and the movie into an MKV using Mkvmerge Gui (part of the mkvtools package). It's very quick and simple to do. How do you play back your movies, i.e. using what server or share type? Media tank:A-100 & C-200 TV:Panasonic TH-50PY800MT (HDMI) Audio:Logitech Z-5500 (Coaxial) |

RE: [SUBTITLE] SRT files not working
Just one thing, try press Subtitle on your remote and see if the first display says Off, if it does, press right arrow until it says On.
It's a long shot but you never know.

Yes of course I have it on At first I had an entire season of a tv-show in the same folder (.avi) and also around 20 subtitle files (.srt) in the same folder. the name of the subtitle file is exactly the same as the .avi file except the file format of course. I also tried putting just one episode of the show in a separate folder with the srt file for that season, but still no luck. The strange thing is that I have lots and lots of movies in .mkv format with srt subtitles and that works just fine, but .avi files with .srt doesn't seem to work. |

RE: [SUBTITLE] SRT files not working
There are some different formatting depending on what file extension the subtitle has, *.srt of course is one of the most popular these days and should look something like this:
Quote:25 this format is obviously supported by the PCH, but i have no idea if some of the others are, check how your sub is formatted inside the document to make sure. Logitech Harmony 1100 Samsung UE46B7070 Popcorn Hour A-110 |

RE: [SUBTITLE] SRT files not working
The files could be saved in the wrong encoding too; Unicode instead of UTF8 or was it ANSI?
Long time ago I had to fiddle with this. Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

RE: [SUBTITLE] SRT files not working
.srt files has to be ANSI encoded - open an .srt in notepad and save as ansi encoded
I have hundreds of .avi's with .srt's - they all work perfectly fine on my A-100/A-110 Where do you play from ? harddrive or network share or http server ? WMP sharing ? RE: [SUBTITLE] SRT files not working
This is from the beginning of one of the srt files:
1 00:00:09,737 --> 00:00:11,737 Du kom för att ta farväl av mig, gulligt. 2 00:00:11,777 --> 00:00:14,977 Vi har ju varit med om en del ihop så jag ville bara komma hit personligen- 3 00:00:15,017 --> 00:00:18,657 - och se till att du blir noga kontrollerad. 4 00:00:33,297 --> 00:00:37,217 Det här är en liten souvenir. Något för att minnas dig. 5 00:00:37,257 --> 00:00:39,057 Det här är en ovärderlig artefakt. I'm playing from the internal hard drive inside the popcorn. How can I see what encoding the file has? Edit: Doesn't matter. I just tried opening it and saving as ANSI, but it still doesn't work

I solved it Didn't know that it was that important, but the name of the srt file and the avi file had this little difference and that apparantly messed it up:...WS.DVDrip.XviD-SAiNTS.avi ...WS.DVDrip.Xvid-SAiNTS.srt Can you see the difference? "God damn the popcorn is picky"
Yep. PCH uses Linux, and that's one of the main differences with Windows.
