RE: how to map synology nas nfs server
Dit you set the rights for your nfs share? (ip range)
what device your using A100/A110/etc?

Best is also connecting trough NFS-tcp instead of NFS-udp (which is the default)

PCH-A110/C200

Yeah..... it makes you wonder if they really are bugs.... don't it?

RE: how to map synology nas nfs server
Go to the GUI ( http://synology-IP:5000 ) and let us know what NFS settings you have on the share.

If you have telnet/ssh you can cat the /etc/exports file contents. Should be a line looking something like this:
/volume1/video 192.168.1.200(ro,root_squash,no_subtree_check)

Where 192.168.1.200 should be the static IP of your NMT.

These settings are probably available in the Synology GUI, so check that.

Also, on the connectstring on the NMT you could use nfs-tcp://192.168.1.200:/volume1/video

RE: how to map synology nas nfs server
thanks adding the -tcp and changing the permissions in the synology gui now it works. its slower than samba though and a movie that plays over smb wont play over nfs, isnt nfs supposed to be faster?

RE: how to map synology nas nfs server
NFS and SMB speeds are nearly the same nowadays, but NFS is the more native Linux way, so I guess it could be called 'preferred' in this situation. NFS seems to be working better over Powerline/Homeplug environments too.

But whatever works is OK; if an SMB connection is good enough for streaming then you are all set, you NAS does both.

You haven't told us what NMT model you use and what router/switches (Gig-E or 10/100). The C-200 currently has some networking issues which will be resolved in upcoming firmware revisions. If that is your case NFS might work better at a later stage.
