subtitles not always displayed
I like to watch downloaded TV episodes on the C-200 with Dutch subtitles
Some episodes doesn’t display the subtitles.
When I hit the sub title button on the remote control the icon on the screen tells that there is nothing to select.
When I watch this episode without subtitles on my computer I can select and watch the episode with subtitles.

Please tell me how to watch my TV episodes with subtitles.

I notice that in the case that now subtitle is showed, there is also not a subtitle select menu available.
This is however not standard when there is no subtitle menu options available. In most cases Dutch subtitles are normally showed.
From the 10 episodes 2 are show no subtitles.

Is this a new issues or are there more people with similarly problems?

What format are the videos in? What format are the subtitles in?

Use MediaInfo on one of the non-subtitled videos and post the results here.

RE: subtitles not always displayed
There is a known bug that if a DVD has been ripped with no DVD menu and only one subtitle, then the single subtitle cannot be enabled.
It can be enabled if the DVD has been ripped with DVD menu, or with more than one subtitle.

Bug will be fixed in next firmware soon to be released.

Living room: C200/A200/A100 HDMI to Pioneer KURO KRP-500A plasma / Denon AVR 3808 / KEF 5005.2 / B&W DM685
Kids room: C200/A110 HDMI to Panasonic 42PZ85, Optical to Logitech Z5500.

RE: subtitles not always displayed
Thanks for your replay.
I hope the new firmware will release very soon because most of my media, films ISO etc has no menu and only 1 subtitle.
In the mean time I have to fall back on my old media player.

RE: subtitles not always displayed
Hi Intrasfeer,

If you rip yourself your episodes from your DVD (I mean in accordance with the license related to your dvd), for the one you have not done yet, i would suggest you to either use :
- (very simple end friendly MMI) an automated tool (with only a few parameters to be defined) that would convert it to h264 in mkv container (can be done without visible loss of precision or detail) (but gaining in space), that will allow you to embeded your subtitles in the mkv container. Some of the tools are free, others are included for example with some Nero suites.
- or to use one of the popular fee GUI interface (that is a little more complicated the first time to understand if you never played with codec otpions) that will allow you to automatized the encoding of multiple episodes at once, provided the sources DVD are available on multiple drives or have been ripped to your HD.

(provided that you dont need menus or extras) it will allow you to gain space, have an mkv suited to your need (for example you can downconvert to mp3 if you dont want AC3 or DTS tracks), all in one file, and perfectly played by the C200 (no subtitles problem if they are embedded in the mkv). As an example, a DL DVD (8 Go of film and tracks, extras on other disc) with an half debit DTS (only a few DVD are with full debit DTS tracks) will be around 1,5 Go with the untouch DTS track and same quality video.
The downside is that you need CPU time to do it ... and you you will not be able to play the file on a DVD player that would not be able to manage h264 in mkv container ...
