I had a VW Passat PD 1.9 turbo diesel and had a few problems with it. They seemed mostly to be the ineptitude of the main dealer mechanics tho - it's go in for a routine service and come back out with broken turbo, cracked intercooler pipe... you name it! Pity as it was a nice gutsy engine seen as it only had 130 BHP. Good 6 speed manual helped.
