External USB Drive Limit
Does anyone know if there's an external USB drive limit? I currently have four drives but only three will register. Each enclosure houses two hard drives. I get an error message when I try to mount the fourth drive. I know the NMT's are Linux based. Is there some way the player could mount more than 3 drive letters or as that a limitation??

RE: External USB Drive Limit
Some one else mentioned the exact same problem. They could only see 3 drives. Strange.
Some have 8 or more USB drives connected and no problems. I wonder if it is related to the chip being used in the external case? C-200, A-110 both playing from a DIY Linux Raid 5 server. Remuxes, Captures and Transcodes done on a desktop running; Win7, Intel i7 hexacore processor with 24 GB ram, WD VR OS drive and a WD Black 2 TB data drive. |

RE: External USB Drive Limit
Yeah, I know. That was a selling point for me. I know this thing is way more sophisticated than the WDTV. I know this because I used to own one and it was crap. That's my biggest concern right now. I back up full blu-rays. Well, only the movie. You can go through hard drives pretty quick that way.

So you have 2 enclosures with each holding 2 drives and one doesn't register. Does it register if only that enclosure is attached? I have 10 drives on permanently in 2 ports using 2 8-port USB hubs, I have tested 16 and used HUB on HUB daisychain. RE: External USB Drive Limit
WOWZER!! Wouldn't have anything to do with them being NTFS partitions, would it?? I notice yours are EXT3 partitions.
Oh! Didn't answer your question. It will only see 3 drives regardless. I've removed one from each, leaving only three, to see if that made a difference. |

RE: External USB Drive Limit
NTFS should not be a limitation for the amount of partitions or drives..

RE: External USB Drive Limit
There's one other thing I forgot to mention. I'm using the eGreat M34a. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

RE: External USB Drive Limit
I saw the other post about this. I'm using that same Rosewill case the other person mentioned. Well, I have two of them. Not really sure what's going on with this thing.

RE: External USB Drive Limit
R2-JBOD?
just checked the manual... any chance you have the JBOD switch set the wrong way in one of them? JBOD switch will make 2 drives look like one to the outside... take a good look at the manual again... RE: External USB Drive Limit
That was actually one of the first things I checked. It's strange because I could remove one drive from either case and the player will read them all. Once I put any one back in, regardless of the enclosure, it gives me that request cannot be processed error.

RE: External USB Drive Limit
Hi,
I have the same kind of problem. I just received my C200, it does not recognize all the drives. I have 4 drives in nexstar 3i enclosures, if I reboot the C200 recognizes 2 drives and make USB mount failed for the two others. Now if I disconnect and reconnect the USB cable it works. The day after it is not working anymore. |
