Ok ive working on a new skin and after doing some beta testing on my 200+ movie jukebox i can finally release it for testing etc.

Its just based on excals redefined 1.5.1 skin and uses many of the features.

On the bottom of every details page there are four colored bars and all are controlled by your colored remote buttons.

All the video/audio specs are shown on the footer along with a icon for subtitles if the movie has them.

Red=Plot
Green=Cast
Yellow=Poster normal or bluray
Blue=Trailer (only shows up if there is a trailer for the movie)
Info=Navigation
Play=Play movie

NOTE

Streaming trailers seem to be broken at the moment, seems that apple have changed the link.

The index pages require imagemagick as this is required to add gradients to the .fanart.jpg's and to make perspective .fanart.png images for the moviechange in the index.

Will upload a zip when i have more time and welcome any suggestions if only small that is.

Ill try my best, its because i cant make the plot popup with firefox only the pch, but ill try and manipulate one.

But the plot pops up on the centre of the page and it is the full plot, over 700 characters i think.

Good work....youve kinda moved away from some of the stuff i liked about the first incarnation but its still nice...a few comments -

- Your image that surrounds the cover on the details page doesnt fit very well - needs to match the shape of the box cover i think...actually might look neater if you created a thick bar with the same transparent grey/black look locked to the left hand side of the page that contained the cover....

- Im not sure i like the slant on the fanart on the main index, id personally have them straight.

- Like frames around stuff as it makes it look more organised...again personally i would have a transparent greyed overlay for all the stuff at the bottom of the details page, with faint division lines to separate the the different things like source etc...but hey its your skin!

Some great stuff here though...keep up the good work.

Actually you have given me an idea about the gray background behind the dvd poster.
Instead of having 3 images such as the gray/transparent background,dvd-cover and bluray cover i could just have 2 like below with just the center cut-out to show the poster behind.

Like below.





I would just need to position the poster absolutly central to the overlay.

Oh the reason i went with the distorted fanart images is so you can see them correctly as when u have just rectangles you cut most of the image off.

Odd that some of those movies haven't been released on DVD/BluRay yet, but you still have them in your collection...

I only altered the xml file for testing purposes.
I created a short dummy video,made several copys,renamed them to movie names and then modified the xml file to insert bluray specs etc and rerun yamj.

Thats why they appear as bluray.

Not hard to do! In fact there's many cases where American movies are released
on DVD or BluRay in Europe and Asia before they are in US/Canada.

The DVD and BluRay covers need to be consistent in size so that you have the same grey background.
Either make it a DVD case, or BluRay style with DVD text and color.

I don't the perspective look of the slanted fanart for perception, it just takes getting used to.

For the example pages, after a color key is pressed such as RED for plot, then I think you should
hide the RED bar at the bottom and replace it with a non-clickable blank, or ellipse around it, or
anything else that gives a quick visual re-affirmation of what the user was expecting to see.
Same for other color buttons. I assume that clicking RED button makes the info go away.

Ive sorted the dvd/bluray case with the grey background.

I suppose i could add the red bar image to the javascript popup script so when someone press'es the red button on there remote the red bar will dissappear.

I should point out the colored bars are not clickable there just there as visual representation of the colored buttons on the remote.

Just a quick note for anyone who has downloaded my skin.

I noticed that the semi-transparent images that are supposed to be behind the navigation menu i.e

All
Hd
Comedy
Drama

etc are missing.

Just go to the jericho images folder and copy the trans.png and trans2.png to where your html files are as i never updated the image location when i coded the index.xsl file.

Another update of my skin.

There is some issues with the speed of the movie change in the index,When testing over a 100mb network and the jukebox is on a pc which is connected by wi-fi then the image change can be slow to change in either 1 direction or both.



This is due to the file size of the fanart images, but when connected by a fully connected wired network with 100mb then the issue is somewhat reduced.



At the moment i cant find a solution as its excals script.



But the slowness of the image change is either being contribued by the A-110 amount of onboard ram and the network connection beit wired or wireless.



I have always found that the wired solution is always gonna be better then wireless.
