[Oversight] Not working as expected

[Oversight] Not working as expected
Hello,

Just bought my NMT the other day and installed the Stable (571?) release of Oversight from the CSI, after installing the Basic NMT apps.

I have approx 500 Video titles loaded on the internal HD.

~ 98 Movies and the rest are TV shows.

I set the options, (download posters and such) started the scan , and left it overnight.

Next morning, the scan was finished. The settings page reports, 0 Moives 432 TV shows and 92 Others.

Even though I am in Poster Mode, there were no posters at all. Just TV and AVI? icons. The TV icons would take me to a page with the series selection and I would see some text with the plot synopsis, but still no Posters.

Selecting a Series would take me to the page with the individual episode titles with more plot synopsis, but still no posters.

No posters anywhere.

Played with settings, even changed to text mode and back.
Changed from "alt" skin to "default" skin and back. Still no posters.

Last night I decided to uninstall Oversight 571-stable using the CSI.

Rebooted NMT. Installed Oversight-test version from CSI.

Set my options, and statrted New Scan with new version.

Oversight reported "scanning" but the HD would power down and network activity would cease after a few minutes. It was clearly not scanning. Reboot, and tried again. Says scanning but no HD or network activity even after and hour.

So I uninstalled Oversight-Test version using CSI. Rebooted and installed Oversight-Stable. Set my options and started the scan. After a few minutes oversight reports Items being scanned... Let it cook overnight.

This morning, scan is finished, found 0 Moives, 432 TV shows and 92 Others.
Still no posters. Looks exaclty like the first time I installed Oversight-Stable, except, when I select the TV Series, the next page is White and blank! No episodes are listed, just white space. I can "return" back to the Series # selection though. All episode pages are blank.

How do I get the Posters to download/display?

How do I fix the white blank episode pages?

Why doesn't it recognize movies as movies? They are named pretty descriptively. (ie. Star.Wars.IV.A.New.Hope.avi)

My NMT is Elektron EHP-606 with the latest FW from Elektron.

I really like the Oversight App/concept and would love to get this working.

I have looked on Lordy's Oversight website and in this forum, but can't seem to find a solution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

The log files in Apps/oversight/logs might shed some light on it, worth a look, and I'm sure lordy wouldn't mind having a PM from you with the details they contain.

@Zoltar,

For your Star.Wars.IV.A.New.Hope.avi example try adding a .nfo file with the same name i.e Star.Wars.IV.A.New.Hope.nfo and put inside that info file the IMDB page number i.e. tt0076759?

Remove Star.Wars.IV.A.New.Hope.avi from you list and doing a rescan again (for new item only).
See if that fixes it.

I have 181 movies all working fine, but I noticed if you do not have a year in your file name it would make it hard for oversight to pick it and doing a simple search on tar.Wars.IV.A.New.Hope.avi would give many results!

This is just a test Smile but if it works we are on the right track.

I appreciate the reply.

I can try that later when I get home.

I do know for a fact that many of my movie titles do have the years in the file names though. I shudder at the though of looking up the IMDB ID number and creating NFO files for each movie. Out of the ~500 titles it scanned there is not a single poster. That is why I think something is very wrong. Also the second install of oversight seems to be having problems displaying the episode pages (blank/white page).

I have a bad feeling I am going to need to do a clean wipe / fresh install to get the oversight pages working correctly. Not sure if it would fix my no posters issue though.

Is doing a complete wipe/install a fairly common requirement with the NMTs and 3rd party apps?

RE: [Oversight] Not working as expected
Hey Zoltar,

In one of the Oversight betas there's a problem that I'm having where I get White/Screen but I'm using R625 it works fine for me.
I agree with you that surely something is wrong and that you're not getting any kind of poster for your movies.

Maybe trying putting back the default oversight settings? I remember I did not change anything except to configure to connect to my NAS and the size of the posters only. Usually poster mode is enabled by default.

Trying having a look at log files are well they might help you with finding out what wrong (or worst send them to Lordy).

Last resort would be to do a full re installation but I would wait till you hear from Lordy.

RE: [Oversight] Not working as expected
Hi Zoltar

I know this could be an obvious one (and not wanting to say you'd do something like this) BUT ... have you got Oversight actually looking at the Movie folder on your HD?

It just seems strange that 0 movies are being scanned but TV are scanning.

Not sure if there is an option in config about show/download posters but there is one for Fanart.. if you turn this on do you get fanart downloads?

Finally is IMDB giving you a return good return when you run a check via oversight (from the page where you check connections to all scaping sites)

These are all basic things and appologies if you've done all these things.. maybe Lordy and the other guys here will help with the technical things?

@Zoltar, have a look in the log files /share/apps/Oversight/logs/catalog.9999.log
Just skim through looking for the word ERROR or WARNING. If that doesn't shed any light then send be the log files

RE: [Oversight] Not working as expected
Thank you all for your replies!

I think mostly everything was default the second time around, but the first time I was playing (of course).

The first install, all of my titles (movie and tv) were all in subfolders of /share/Video. They were all enumerated after the scan, but the Movies showed up as "unknown" and TV episodes were listed as TV.

I thought it might help to move them to /share/Movies and /share/Tv respectively, before I installed Oversight-test. Oversight-test appeared to fail scanning all together. I left them in the Movies and Tv folders when I installed Oversight-stable the second time and it came out the same as the 1st time... Movies were listed as unkown and Tv's were Tv.

Yes, I had the option to Download posters checked each time, but shut off Fan-art.

All of the Scarping sources checked out OK when running the test.

The thing that bothers me the most is the white screen. Atleast in the first install I could still use Oversight without the posters. But the second stable install is now useless because I can;t access the epsiodes because of the blank white screen for the episode pages.

Could there be a problem with the CSI "uninstall" feature leaving something behind? It's my suspsion that the white screen is from uninstalling and re-installing between 2 different versions.

I will check out the logs when I get home.

Thanks again!

RE: [Oversight] Not working as expected
OK... Log is over 11 MB.

I did a search for "ERROR" with no results.

Search for "WARNING" produced many lines of "Regex flag clash @~" for the movies.

The TV clips had "WARNING search_tv_series_names could not find series page".

I think I might try a fresh install, and only load a few titles on the HDD and see what a scan produces.

RE: [Oversight] Not working as expected
@Lordy
I tried rebooting several times.

I found out tonight that I didn't have the latest Firmware and NMT apps installed. I am upgrading both as we speak. I am doing a full wipe.

I will reinstall Oversight-stable and try scanning with less files. I will post my results.

Also, are the NMT apps updates specific to the type of NMT like the Firmware is?

I.E. Will the latest version of NMT apps for PCH work with the EHP-606?

Thanks!

RE: [Oversight] Not working as expected
The only reason I ask is...

I originally installed the NMT apps from the file (syb8634.nmt) I found in this post http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=18839

According to the ELEKTRON website the latest NMT apps for this box is file (081023-NMT.nmt).

I got the (syb8634.nmt) to load but the (081023-NMT.nmt) file isn't detected on my USB flash drive when I try the install.

Any advice?
