[NEW] Cannot browse NFS symlinks
Bug Description: I am sharing my media using a NFS server on linux. I've had it setup for over a year and I can play normal (non symlinked) files fine. I thought I had symlink files working correctly, but last time I remember playing them was over a year ago, so maybe not.
I have created some new symlinks to existing files that play. However, when I browse to the folder that contains the new symlink files they are not displayed in the NMT file browser. So I can't even select them to try and play them. They are just not listed at all. These symlink files are visible and play correctly when I use an NFS client on with a windows or linux pc. I've tried creating the symlink with absolute paths and relative paths. No difference. Hardware Setup: Firmware Version: 01-17-090204-15-POP-402-000 Network Setup: cat5, Gentoo based server Internal HDD built in: No Media Details: Source Location:Network (NFS) different Location tested: Network (NFS) non-symlink |

RE: [NEW] Cannot browse NFS symlinks
Yes NMT Browser (Gaya) is dumb(IMO) and does not show symlinks.
IF the links are on the same device as the original file, you can use hard links, but you can't have hard links to folders only files. (actually I think hard links to folders do exist but they are reserved for system use '.' and '..' ) In my experience, using hard links usually means I'm doing a horrible kludge though, which will bite me in the bum at some point.
