No lights coming on but adapter flickering

After working for a while, my Popcorn A-110 is now effectively DEAD. No lights are coming on anywhere on the Popcorn, but the small green light on the power adaptor flickers when I turn the Popocorn on at the rear. I did a little bit of internet research on the behaviour of the adaptor light that suggests a short circuit in the motherboard. Can anyone confirm? Can anyone suggest a fix, or that it is worth fixing?

Put another way, has anyone out there ever taken their Popcorn (well out of warranty) to a local PC fixer and asked for any basic repairs?

Someone suggested that I try a different power adapter lead as a first thing - I did that with several adapters and leads with no success. BTW, the warranty on the popcorn ran out a few weeks ago. I opened a case with popcorn anyway to see if they could help.
