Rip to Video_TS...Copy or Convertion?
Is ripping a DVD to Video_TS a copy or convertion? In other words if I used two different products would I expect to get the exact same results? Is it just copying 1s and 0s or is something else happening?

There shouldn't be any conversion, unless you choose to implement any.

Personally, I use AnyDVD to decrypt and DVDShrink to rip. I prefer Shrink because it can be used to remove layer-breaks... but if you're not bothered about fine details like that, you can use AnyDVD alone.

RE: Rip to Video_TS...Copy or Convertion?
dh2005 I did a Stargate DVD which had layer breaks. I was looking for a different option but within settings there was one called seamless layer option.
Knowing IMGBurn as I do I would be very surprised if it could not do what DVDShrink does.
Did you try this setting, or are you 100% certain, I ask as IMGBurn is one if not the most advanced DVD image creation tool. It was known as DVD Decrypter so has been around in pre dual layer DVD days. It was a rival to AnyDVD in those days before dropping the decryption due to the developer receiving threatening letters from lawyers.

I ripped the orignial Indiana Jones trilogy with ImgBurn with this setting checked, and there were still tiny pauses.

That was my only issue with ImgBurn. Lovely program, otherwise.

RE: Rip to Video_TS...Copy or Convertion?
as far as i know, ripping is similar to copy but different from conversion. Ripping is just rip the main movie file out of disc, copy is to copy all the file in the disc to your harddrive or something else. and conversion is to convert blu-ray to another different format.

Mike

If you have to remove a copy protection schema then it's a rip but still no "conversion" to the video content.
If there is no copy protection you could just copy the Folder structure of the DVD...

Conversion is in general reserved for compression like H264, DivX or containers changes like AVI, MKV... that include the removal of "unwanted" trailers, audio files, subtittles and other "extra's"

The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box
